Makhachev has been the best at taking down opponents, with a 53% success rate and 3.2 takedowns every 15 minutes.  He has a 61% defence against strikes and only takes 1.55 strikes per minute.  He controls fights, whether they’re standing or on the ground, for 427 seconds every 15 minutes, which is almost three times the average for the division.

He is a world-class chain wrestler with great top control and a lot of pressure.  His cardio is the best, and his left hand is getting better at hitting things as time goes on. But he does have some flaws.  Islam Makhachev has a shorter reach, and people can jab him from far away.  He sometimes lets go of clinch breaks too easily and can be open to counters when he goes too far with his shots.

Jack Della Maddalena has won 18 times and lost 2 times.  He quickly moved up the welterweight ranks because he was accurate, calm, and tough.  He had his big moment when he beat Belal Muhammad at UFC 315 to win the title. He got a knee-to-ground TKO in the third round of his UFC 299 fight against Gilbert Burns, which earned him the Performance of the Night bonus.  He won a split decision over Kevin Holland at UFC Fight Night before that.  He also won Fight of the Night for beating Bassil Hafez by split decision in 2023.

Jack Della Maddalena has quickly become a strong contender because he strikes at a high level.  He moves well, changes stances, and hits powerful combinations at the right times.  While he may not have the best size or speed, he consistently hits his opponents, even those who are more naturally gifted.   Jack is in great shape with an 18-2 MMA record and a perfect 9-0 UFC record.

He hits the body and head with different kinds of strikes and doesn’t fall for feints very often.  He knows how to get his opponents to react to his own feints and hit them with the right strike at the right time.

Jack’s best chance is to make Makhachev fight with his fists.  He needs to stay balanced and separate, hitting Makhachev with uppercuts, elbows, and sharp jabs when he tries to get in.  Jack might be able to steal rounds with his strikes and faster reactions if he can avoid being controlled for long periods of time.  But it’s hard to deal with Makhachev’s pressure.  He has a lot of control over his position, and once he gets on top of you, it’s hard to get away.

MALCOLM WELLMAKER – LLWWW

Malcolm Wellmaker has never lost a fight, and his record is perfect at 10-0.  He has won both of his first two UFC fights, finishing Cameron Saaiman and Kris Moutinho in the first round. He is 31 years old.  He is known as “The Machine” because he has power, accuracy, and a killer instinct.  He has knocked out six opponents and submitted two of them, all in the first round.

He is 6’10” tall and has a reach of 71″. He brings both size and skill to the octagon.  He hasn’t had to fight anyone after the first round yet.  Before joining the UFC, he fought in Conflict MMA Promotions in 2022 and won all three of his fights.  He is currently ranked 128th in the world in the bantamweight division and 101st in North America.  He is also ranked in the Southeast and Georgia regions of the US.

Malcolm Wellmaker has won four fights by knockout, two by submission, and two by decision.  In 2023, he won the Conflict MMA Bantamweight Championship by beating Taylor Moore by a majority decision.  Other important wins include a second-round KO/TKO over Chase Boutwell, a first-round TKO over Justin Hughes, and a split decision over Zakariya Camara.

Barcelos is still one of the best strikers in the world.  He is dangerous everywhere because his combos are sharp, his timing is perfect, and his wrestling defense is strong.  He hits 52% of his strikes, which shows how accurate his hands are.  At 38, he might not be as fast as he used to be, but his strength is still there.  His win over Garbrandt showed that he can still change the course of a fight in an instant.

This fight is between two of the best bantamweights who aren’t ranked.  This is a rare fight where experience and hunger meet, and both men have something to prove. Barcelos has made a surprising comeback.  A lot of people thought he was done after a bad 1–5 run from 2021 to 2023.  But now he’s turned things around and is having some of the best wins of his career at 38.  His recent wins have mostly come from his grappling, where he uses timing and control to outwork his opponents.

But that way of doing things could cause problems here.  Simon is a hard puzzle to solve because he has a long history in wrestling, a great takedown defense, and explosive athleticism.  Barcelos will have to trade punches if he can’t get him to the ground.  Simon could easily beat him on the feet with his speed and strength.

This fight is a lot like Simon’s fight with Raphael Assuncao in 2021. Assuncao was a well-rounded but old veteran who got caught in the storm.  He then beat Javid Basharat in a very one-sided match, which showed how dangerous he is early on. Christian Leroy Duncan has a record of 12 wins and 2 losses going into this fight.  The British fighter has a lot of confidence, skill, and high hopes going into the Octagon. Duncan is six feet two inches tall and controls fights with his long reach, smooth movement, and creative strikes.  He also has good wrestling skills, which makes him a dangerous all-around athlete. Before joining the UFC, Duncan won seven fights in a row, five of which were by knockout and one by submission. 

Since Christian Leroy Duncan first fight in 2023, he has won three and lost two. He beat Denis Tiuliulin and Claudio Ribeiro, but lost a close fight to Armen Petrosyan. Now he faces Christian Leroy Duncan at UFC Apex. The 31-year-old Brazilian has been on fire since he stood out in Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024. He has won ten fights in a row, and seven of those wins came by stoppage, including his last four. He has an impressive record of 13 wins and 1 loss, with the loss happening seven years ago.  Tulio has easily handled every challenge the UFC has thrown at him.  So far, his aggressive style and raw strength have been too much for his opponents.  When he gets to the middle of the cage, he attacks with heavy combinations and sharp high kicks, which often surprise his opponents when they are close by. Tulio will have to hit first and keep the pressure on Duncan.  If he can use his power early, he might be able to take control before Duncan gets into the swing of things.

Mateusz Rebecki – LWLWW

Mateusz Rębecki is getting ready for his next fight in the UFC.  He promises another intense fight in the cage before the battle. His last fight was against Chris Duncan in Las Vegas on August 2.  He lost by points, but the fight was so exciting that both fighters got UFC bonuses.  Mateusz used to be the FEN champion and has been with the UFC since 2023.  He got his spot through the Contender Series.  He has fought 23 times and won 20 of them.

He has won 14 fights in a row and doesn’t plan to stop.  He is a slight favorite to win this fight on the Preliminary Card, but he has only lost once, and that was to Pawel Kielek, who knocked him out.  Rębecki has shown that he can knock people out, like when he knocked out Jose Barrios Vargas in the first round.  He won the FEN Lightweight Championship and the Knockout of the Night award at FEN 32 for this fight.  He has won the lightweight title in FEN seven times.

Rębecki has beaten well-known fighters like Arkadiy Osipyan, Felipe Maia, Fabiano Silva, Magomed Magomedov, Lukasz Kopera, and Marian Ziokowski.  He has shown that he can do it over and over again, and it seems like nothing can stop him.

Ludovit Klein – LWWWW

Ludovit Klein has a big fight coming up at UFC 321.  Tamerlan Dulatov, a rising star in Oktagon MMA who trains with Klein, recently shared his thoughts on the fight.  Dulatov just beat Henrique Melo at Oktagon 78 on October 18.

Because of his exciting fighting style, Klein, who is 30 years old, is known as “Mr. Highlight.”  He lives in Nove Zamky, Slovakia, and trains at the Spartakus Fight Gym.  Klein has won 23 fights, lost 4, and drawn 1.  Nine of his 23 wins are by knockout, eight are by submission, and six are by decision.

Klein’s first two fights were at Absolute Championship Berkut, where he won both of them.  He moved to Oktagon MMA in 2017 and won all five of his fights by knockout.  The UFC called him up after three years.  He has fought 10 times in the UFC, winning 7, losing 2, and drawing 1.  He has won four and drawn one of his last five fights.

He last fought on September 28, 2024, and he won by unanimous decision over Roosevelt Roberts.  He had already beaten Thiago Moisés in a similar way before that. Klein is currently the 18th best lightweight fighter in the world.

Ludovit Klein is an amazing striker who can hit the target every time.  His 1-2 headkick combo is very dangerous.  This fight won’t be simple.  If Mateusz Rebecki sticks to his plan and stays away from Klein’s powerful strikes, he has a good chance.  Rebecki is skilled at mixing punches and wrestling, making him dangerous.   Both fighters have a lot of experience and skills. 

I think this fight will go to a decision, but it’s hard to pick a winner.   Klein’s punches are very precise, and he hits hard.  He doesn’t get enough credit and will surprise a lot of people.  I’m not saying Klein will definitely win, but his striking should be better.  He won’t get into grappling exchanges; instead, he’ll use his movement and timing to stop Rebecki’s pressure.

Rebecki gets hit too often, and I’m worried about the damage he’s taken lately.  Klein is much better at technical things on his feet.  Klein should be able to keep the fight standing because he has a 90% takedown defense.  His striking is exciting, but he sometimes clinches and counters too much, which can get old.  Rebecki is more well-rounded, but he has trouble staying on top and may not be able to handle Klein’s power well.

For great boxing fans, this match promises great entertainment. Caleb Plant had trouble with Trevor McCumby’s power, so he decided to smother him by closing the distance. This reduced McCumby’s range and power. Once he made that adjustment, Caleb’s superior boxing skills and ring IQ really shined. If the fight had gone past the stoppage, Caleb was going to hurt him badly. This is the best way to beat a defensive fighter who uses a lot of footwork—not just with power, but also with unorthodox lunging.

From the press conference reactions, it’s clear Caleb doesn’t know exactly what to expect from Jermall Charlo. Every time they are close, Caleb keeps his guard up just in case. Caleb is a sensitive guy, which might explain why he sometimes gases out. He stays tense all the time. On the other hand, Charlo is easygoing and didn’t think Caleb was serious when he acted the way he did. I think Caleb can take anything Charlo throws at him. He handled everything from Jose Benavidez, who is bigger and stronger. It’s definitely going to be a competitive fight, no doubt. But I don’t see Charlo knocking out Caleb. Charlo couldn’t even knock out Benavidez, who is a volume puncher.

Some people think Charlo got “punked” and will lose the fight. I believe Charlo will still lose, but it will be up to the judges to decide.

Mateusz Gamrot – LWWWL

Mateusz Gamrot is a 34-year-old Polish fighter and a true force in mixed martial arts. He currently competes in the UFC’s lightweight division. Gamrot first made a name for himself in the Polish MMA scene.

In 2016, he won both the KSW featherweight and lightweight championships. One of his biggest KSW wins came against Norman Parke at KSW 39 on May 27, 2017. Parke was the reigning champion, but in their rematch, Gamrot showed his dominance. Using expert grappling, he took Parke down and controlled him on the ground. In the third round, Gamrot secured a kimura submission, forcing Parke to tap out and earning the KSW lightweight title.

Gamrot defended this title three times, proving he was one of the best lightweight fighters in the world before moving to the UFC.

In 2020, Gamrot joined the UFC. He made his debut on October 17 but lost a close split decision to Guram Kutateladze. Despite the setback, he stayed determined. In April 2021, he bounced back with a TKO win over Scott Holtzman, dominating the fight on the ground.

Klein has a professional record of 23 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. Out of his 23 wins, 9 are by knockout, 8 by submission, and 6 by decision.

He started his career with Absolute Championship Berkut, winning both of his fights there. In 2017, he signed with Octagon MMA Promotions and won all five of his bouts by knockout.

Ludovit Klein has end-level striking that is incredibly accurate. His 1-2 headkick combo is deadly. This won’t be a simple fight. Both fighters are experienced and full of skills.

In my opinion, this fight will go to a decision, but I don’t see a clear winner. It’s going to be a banger. I’m leaning towards Klein. He’s too technical, hits hard, and is extremely underrated. He will surprise a lot of people.

Gamrot has fought better competition, but he hasn’t been finishing his opponents. He looked shaky in his last fight. His wrestling isn’t as good as we thought, and Klein has solid takedown defense.

Gamrot beat Arman, who couldn’t strike. If he fought Arman today, he would lose badly. Losing to Hooker isn’t too bad, but Hooker has lost to all top-level fighters he faced. The old RDA hurt Gamrot in that fight. Not saying Klein is a lock, but I think his striking will be better, and he will avoid grappling exchanges.

Geoff Neal finished RDA in round one. Gamrot took that same old RDA to a decision and almost lost. That fight was just last year.

Klein’s record is 7-2-1 with 3 finishes. The competition isn’t the best, but beating Ignacio in 2023 is solid.

As for Roosevelt Roberts, anyone who saw his last fight agrees he looked very improved. He fought better than ever before.

Here’s my take on that fight:

Round 1: 10-9 for Roosevelt. He slightly outstruck Klein, and both were very technical. Klein showed good takedown defense. It was close, and I was a bit worried about my confident pick of Klein.

Round 2: Clear 10-9 for Klein. He kicked Roosevelt off balance, then controlled the round on the ground with elbows, avoiding submissions.

Round 3: 10-9 for Klein again. The striking was close, but Klein got takedowns and controlled the cage. He attempted guillotines and a ninja choke but also landed good shots.

Overall, Roosevelt looked much improved compared to his previous fights. Bisping even noticed it in the third round. Roosevelt’s striking was decent, but his grappling was weak.

I need to watch more fights and tape on Klein. So far, I don’t see much that shows Gamrot will dominate Klein. Gamrot might land a lunging straight right to set up takedowns, but Klein has great reflexes to get underhooks and stuff takedowns.

Stats show Klein has a 90% takedown defense. Honestly, I think he’s the better striker even with the takedown threat. His striking is fun to watch, but sometimes he clinches and counters too much, which can get boring.

This guy will shake up the division. If you take the best skills from all other heavyweight prospects and combine them, they still won’t match Moses’ talent. He is the real deal. His angles are unorthodox, and his ring IQ is impressive. It’s pretty amazing to watch.

He has a great future. He moves well and packs a powerful punch. His mentors should take it step by step with him. We will see what he can do in tougher fights, but I believe he will become a heavyweight champion.

Mike Balogun is quite fast. He’s wild and leaves himself open. This should be a fun fight with Moses… at least while it lasts.

Balogun isn’t bad, but Moses has already beaten two fighters with better records and bigger names. The DBC thinks Moses can go all the way. But he must keep improving.
