The UFC is set to kick off the new year with a stacked pay-per-view, UFC 311. The opening PPV will take place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California on Jan 18. In the main event, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (26-1) will take on Arman Tsarukyan (22-3).
It is worth noting that the two have previously fought each other. Their first encounter took place at UFC Fight Night 149 back in April 2019. On the night, Makhachev defeated Tsarukyan via unanimous decision. Moreover, the bout earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
It is worth noting that their first fight was Tsarukyan’s promotional debut in the UFC. The rematch will be Makhachev’s fourth title defense and arguably his toughest one so far and it will be interesting to see how it goes.
In the co-main event, bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili will take on Umar Nurmagomedov to mark his first title defense. Jamahal Hill vs Jiri Prochazka will also be on the card with the victor slated to get a shot at the light heavyweight title.
