Rambolek and Kovtun Both Fireworks in Bantamweight Muay Thai Battle

Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon has identified a fatal flaw in Dmitrii Kovtun’s game, while the Russian destroyer promises to expose weaknesses in typical Thai fighting style when they collide at ONE Fight Night 35 this Friday.

The #4-ranked bantamweight faces surging “Silent Assassin” Kovtun on September 5 inside Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium, with both fighters targeting spectacular early finishes rather than grinding decisions.

Rambolek used his forced withdrawal from their original ONE Fight Night 32 booking as strategic advantage, moving to Superbon Training Camp while studying every second of Kovtun’s footage. The extended preparation revealed crucial openings.

“My opponent, Dmitrii Kovtun, is a good fighter. He has great boxing, and from the videos I’ve watched, he has a wide range of skills,” Rambolek said. “But I don’t think he’s invincible. I’ve noticed that he tends to slow down and run out of gas.”

The Thai knockout artist has rebounded from a two-fight slide with three consecutive victories, including a devastating second-round TKO of Parham Gheirati that reestablished his divisional credibility. Now sitting comfortably in the top five, he understands the stakes.

“Being in the top-five rankings is very important to me, and I won’t let anyone take my spot easily,” he declared. “My ultimate goal is to become a champion, and I will not be a stepping stone for anyone.”

Kovtun brings different motivation into their collision. His 3-1 promotional record includes statement victories over seasoned Thai veterans Ferrari Fairtex and Suablack Tor Pran49, proving his ability to solve traditional Thai fighting styles under pressure.

Victory over Rambolek would validate his world title dreams while launching him into championship contention. The 27-year-old calculated striker from Chelyabinsk targets more than simple ranking advancement.

“Yes, he is #4 in the rankings, that is why I want to beat him, so that I can take his place,” Kovtun explained. “After beating Rambolek, I will definitely ask for a fight for the belt.”

The Russian refuses to settle for a decision, targeting a spectacular finish that would earn him a lucrative $50,000 performance bonus.

“I will go for an early victory. I will look for it in the ring,” Kovtun promised.
