Francis Ngannou Says UFC White House Card Needs Him

Francis Ngannou has once again made headlines, this time suggesting that the UFC’s highly anticipated White House event would not be complete without his presence. The former UFC heavyweight champion, who is currently signed with the Professional Fighters League (PFL), believes that if the UFC wants to create the biggest card in the history of combat sports, his name must be involved.

In a recent interview, Ngannou stated, “If you want ‘biggest event of all time,’ you make it the biggest. That can only happen with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou.” His remarks reignited fan discussions about a dream matchup between him and UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones, a fight that has long been desired but never materialized due to Ngannou’s exit from the promotion.

The Dream Fight That Never Happened

Before leaving the UFC in 2023, Ngannou and Jones were on a collision course for one of the most anticipated heavyweight bouts ever. However, contract disputes and Ngannou’s decision to pursue boxing and join the PFL put an end to those talks. Since then, Ngannou has faced Tyson Fury in a competitive boxing match and continues to build his reputation outside the octagon.

Jon Jones, meanwhile, remains the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, having captured the title by defeating Ciryl Gane in 2023. While Jones is currently recovering from injury, fans continue to call for a super-fight that would pit two of the most dominant heavyweights of their era against each other.

What It Could Mean for the UFC

The UFC’s White House card is being promoted as a historic event, but Ngannou believes it can only reach legendary status with his involvement. A potential reunion between Ngannou and the UFC would not only captivate fans worldwide but could also break pay-per-view records.

While the likelihood of Ngannou returning remains uncertain, his comments have once again put pressure on the UFC to make the long-awaited clash with Jon Jones happen. If ever realized, it could truly be one of the biggest events in combat sports history.
