In a recent interview, UFC CEO Dana White denied any possibility of former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou returning to UFC again. This situation made many mma enthusiasts wondering if “The Predator“ regrets his decision to leave the promotion.
Francis Ngannou recently shown interest in a comeback against fight with Jon Jones at highly speculated white house card in June. With one fight left on his contract deal with PFL, many fans believed the next logical step for Ngannou would be a return to UFC.

Former UFC fighter Weighs-in on this situation
According to UFC veteran Matt Brown, the former UFC heavyweight champion don’t have any regrets about the career trajectory. Especially the financial decisions he made for his career.
“Personally, I highly, highly doubt he’s having any regrets,” said Brown. The UFC veteran also believed the Jones fight isn’t about money for Ngannou.
“I think that’s the competitor in him speaking out. I’m sure he wants Jones fight. I think it’s competitor in him. I dont think there’s a single Regret.
”In financial aspect Brown stated Ngannou made a smart decision. He further said “ He made more in one in one boxing match than he would have made in his entire UFC career.”

Francis Ngannou hasn’t stepped foot inside the UFC Octagon since his victory over Cyril Gane. Where Ngannou claimed victory via unanimous decision to retain his heavyweight throne.
Brown also made a point about “Prizefighting”Ngannou in his opinion made best possible choice regarding that term.
Francis Ngannou reportedly made huge money in his boxing bouts with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury respectively. He also cashed in sizable salary for his only fight in PFL where he has freedom of Personally negotiating his opponents million dollar payout.
Ngannou will turn 40 in 2026, the clock is ticking on his time in combat sports. If he remains in PFL, Ngannou could face current heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov or he could venture into another lucrative multi-million dollar boxing match against former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.
However, Matt Brown believes these ventures unlikely to raise Ngannou’s stock as a competitor. “I’m sure he would love to have a better legacy” said Brown.
What’s next for Francis Ngannou
Francis Ngannou’s last mma bout was against Renan Ferreira at PFL in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during October 2024.
“The Predator” also fought inside the squared circle. In his debut boxing bout, he faced off against “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury. The fight in which many believed Ngannou was the rightful winner. Ngannou reportedly made $10 million for this fight alone, higher salary then his 7-year UFC career.
In his second boxing outing, Ngannou suffered a KO loss in round 2 at the hands of former boxing heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Francis Ngannou and UFC fallout was public one. In january 2023, due to disagreements with UFC President Dana White refused to sign a new deal despite being promotions heavyweight champion.
Ngannou cited lack of freedom and below par conditions for fighters were the main reasons for his departure. He walked away as champion and later signed with PFL in a lucrative $8 million per fight contract including equity ownership in PFL Africa.
Fans are eager to see what’s next for former heavyweight champion. However, one thing is certain Francis Ngannou did not regret his career choice atleast money wise.
