Tyson Fury Returns to the Ring for Netflix Heavyweight Showdown in April

Tyson Fury

A few months ago, Tyson Fury shocked everyone by announcing his return from retirement, immediately reigniting interest in heavyweight boxing. The fighter shared multiple videos of himself training and appearing in excellent shape, fueling excitement for his anticipated comeback fight.

As expected, several assumptions surfaced regarding his opponent, with many believing rising British heavyweight Fabio Wardley was the frontrunner choice. However, it has now emerged that the ‘Gypsy King’ will instead face puncher Arslanbek Makhmudov next in his comeback bout.

Following the official announcement, Fury has also shared his opinion on the upcoming fight after a huge hiatus. “Excited to be back. My heart has always been, and always will be, in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back,” said Tyson Fury.

The fight is scheduled for April 11, 2026, marking Tyson Fury’s official return to professional boxing after two consecutive losses. The bout will take place in the United Kingdom, although the exact city and venue have not yet been officially announced.

The fight will be streamed live on Netflix, continuing the platform’s aggressive expansion into broadcasting major live combat sports events. No world heavyweight titles are confirmed, as this contest serves as Fury’s comeback against knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Who is Arslanbek Makhmudov?

Arslanbek Makhmudov is a Russian professional heavyweight boxer based in Canada, born on June 7, 1989, and widely known by his nickname “Lion.”  Standing around 6′6″ tall with an orthodox stance, he has fought 23 professional bouts, recording 21 wins and two losses in total.

19 of Makhmudov’s victories have come by knockout, reflecting his reputation as a powerful puncher and relentless offensive heavyweight force. He has held several regional and minor heavyweight titles, including the WBC Continental Americas and WBA Inter-Continental championships during his career.

Makhmudov rebounded from earlier defeats with key wins in 2025 and is currently hyped about sharing the ring with Fury. “I am thrilled about the opportunity. I’m coming to deliver a war. Tyson Fury has been a great champion, but I’ll be more ready than ever to leave with a massive win,” said Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Fury has experience fighting knockout artists like Deontay Wilder, surviving heavy knockdowns and proving his elite durability repeatedly over the years. However, at 37, many fans share doubts, yet it remains fascinating to see what happens when heavyweights clash.
