Terence Crawford Fires Back at Joaquin Buckley After Street Fight Challenge

Terence Crawford slams Joaquin Buckley

Terence Crawford is widely regarded as one of the most decorated and technically gifted boxers competing in the modern era. Throughout his illustrious career, Crawford has participated in several historic bouts that cemented his legacy among boxing’s all-time great champions.

Recently, Crawford joined fellow boxing star Shakur Stevenson in a heated discussion comparing the global appeal of mixed martial arts and boxing. Stevenson boldly claimed that the UFC could never surpass boxing’s legacy and overall worldwide popularity in combat sports.

He even challenged reigning lightweight champion Ilia Topuria to test his skills inside a boxing ring someday. Those comments drew the attention of UFC welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley, who criticized boxers for perceived disrespect toward MMA athletes.

Buckley escalated tensions further by publicly challenging Stevenson to a potential street fight to settle their differences. Following the exchange, Crawford took to X and mockingly dismissed Buckley’s comments, fueling the ongoing rivalry between boxing and MMA communities.

Who’s even fighting in the streets anymore? Talking about who he can kill in the streets. He must of forgot they make switches for them kind of tough guys,” wrote Terence Crawford via X.

Terence Crawford recently announced his retirement, and during the recent beef, subtly suggested that advancing age no longer allows him to compete. The former undisputed champion has consistently criticized financial disparities between boxing and MMA pay structures publicly.

Crawford previously dismissed potential crossover talks with Ilia Topuria, arguing the UFC could never meet his financial expectations. Despite skepticism, Crawford competed under Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing banner, facing Canelo Alvarez in a blockbuster showdown. He defeated Alvarez convincingly and reportedly earned $50 million, reinforcing boxing’s superior earning potential narrative.

Joaquin Buckley responds to Terence Crawford’s recent comments

Joaquin Buckley is widely recognized for his unapologetic personality and controversial social media takes that consistently spark heated debates. He recently launched a fiery rant targeting the welterweight champion, Islam Makhachev, accusing him of stalling the division.

Following Terence Crawford’s recent remarks, Buckley surprisingly shifted focus toward the veteran. He publicly invited ‘Bud’ for a light sparring session, promising to settle lingering questions inside the UFC Apex.

Bud is talking crazy, acting like he would do something in the streets, saying he is going to flip the switch, he is going to need the switch if he is playing with me, Let’s get in the ring, let’s spar. You are out in Vegas a lot, you spar at the Apex, you work at the Apex. I think it would be fun. The whole world would like to watch,” said Joaquin Buckley via Instagram.

Joaquin Buckley was one of the top rising contenders in the UFC welterweight division before losing to Kamaru Usman recently. Following that devastating loss, ‘New Mansa’ is desperate to get back to the winning column and reclaim his divisional momentum. However, his latest beef has certainly raised interest from fans across social media.
