Ramadan Ondash Returns Stronger At Flyweight And Already Has Johan Ghazali In His Sights

Ramadan Ondash has been thinking since December. The loss to Aliff Sor Dechapan at ONE Fight Night 38, which was the first defeat of his promotional career, gave him something he had not experienced before, and he has spent every session since working out what to do with it.

The 19-year-old Lebanese striker makes his flyweight debut against Suriyanlek Por Yenying at The Inner Circle on Friday, May 29, live in Asia primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The weight move was not a retreat from the loss. It was a decision driven by a body that has outgrown the strawweight limit entirely.

“My body changed because I don’t have fat in my body, only muscles,” Ramadan said. “My team told me moving up is better for me because now I feel stronger, more conditioning, more power. I feel very good.”

Three months of preparation, including sessions throughout Ramadan, have built the most complete version of himself he has brought to Lumpinee yet. The change is not just physical. The teenager who competed with emotion running high against Aliff has been replaced by something more considered.

“Next week you will see a different Ramadan. Different from before. More relaxed. More clear. I changed my mind a little bit,” he said.

Suriyanlek brings an 86-31 career record and 11 ONE victories into this debut, walking forward and trading in close quarters against every opponent he faces. His bonus-winning record in the weekly series is built on pressure and durability. These qualities have ended the nights of fighters who underestimate him. Ramadan has not done that. He has done his homework, arrived at a precise read, and come to camp prepared to add something he has not shown much of before.

“He’s a good fighter. He has good hands, strong hands, power. It will be a very good fight,” Ramadan said. “Maybe more kicks this time. I trained very hard for this fight. I want to do my best and show the fans who Ramadan Ondash is.”

The fight beyond Suriyanlek is already mapped out. Johan “Jojo” Ghazali, a fellow teenage sensation, former training partner from their IFMA amateur days, and the one matchup every Muay Thai fan wants to see made, is the name Ramadan keeps returning to. The friendship between them is genuine. So is the intention to end it when the bell rings.

“Everybody wants to see me and Jojo. We are both strong, young, and we have big futures together. A very beautiful fight,” he said. “We were friends. But inside the ring there are no friends. After the fight we can be friends again.”

The stage he wants for it is not arbitrary. Ramadan watched what ONE SAMURAI 1 in Tokyo produced in April and decided that is exactly where this rivalry belongs.

“If I win this fight, I want to fight Jojo at ONE SAMURAI event in Japan,” he said. “I love Japan. It’s my dream to fight there. I want to fight at ONE SAMURAI 2 in August.”
