Detchawalit Silkmuaythai Vows To Bring A Smarter, More Calculated Version To The Inner Circle 21

Detchawalit Silkmuaythai has four knockouts in four ONE Championship appearances. He nearly made it out of the fourth fight without one, and that near-miss has shaped everything about how he plans to approach the fifth.

The 18-year-old Thai faces French striker Tom “No Time” Casse in a bantamweight Muay Thai bout at The Inner Circle 21, streaming live for members in Asia primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, July 10. A fifth consecutive stoppage would move him a step closer to the US$100,000 six-figure contract that has defined his ambitions since arriving on the global stage.

His most recent performance, a second-round finish of Denis Dotsenko at ONE Friday Fights 146, gave him something more valuable than another highlight reel: a genuine test that exposed a cardio deficit he had not previously encountered.

“I planned to push the pace from the opening bell. I really wanted to get a quick finish. But he was moving so fast, and I could barely land anything,” he said.

“After throwing so many shots and missing, I started to gas out. That’s how I got caught with that big punch in round two. To be honest, I almost threw in the towel right there. But luckily he got a bit careless too, which opened up a gap for me to counter.”

Casse presents a different kind of challenge. The Frenchman brings technical sophistication and dangerous hands to a matchup where Detchawalit knows he cannot afford the same tactical errors that nearly undid him against Dotsenko.

“Tom is a highly technical fighter. He’s comfortable fighting both on the outside and in the clinch. His biggest strength is his agility. If he’s the one dictating the pace, he’s great at timing his shots,” he said.

“Plus, he packs power in every strike – especially his hands. I’m sure his punching power is heavier than Denis’, so I absolutely cannot afford to get caught again.”

The version of Detchawalit that steps through the ropes on Friday will carry the same finishing instinct. What has changed is the patience wrapped around it.

“Everyone is going to see a much smarter and more calculated version of me. I need to stay calm, manage my gas tank, and pick my shots carefully,” he said.

“The goal is to force him onto his back foot so he can’t fight his game. The more I make him back up, the less dangerous and lighter his strikes will become.”

The life-changing contract remains the target. The approach to it has evolved.

“I want to get my fifth straight finish and chase that contract. But at the same time, I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself. I’m just going to let the fight flow naturally,” he said.

“If the finish isn’t presenting itself, I won’t take crazy risks just to trade blows; I’ll be smart about it. But if an opportunity to close the show pops up, I promise you I won’t let it slip away.”
