When Parham Gheirati tore his ACL in sparring roughly 10 months ago, some people told him he would never be the same fighter. The 22-year-old Iranian insists he has come back stronger.
He faces Thai veteran Nakrob Fairtex in a bantamweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 48 on Friday, October 2, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. It is his first outing since knocking out Tyson “John Wayne Noi” Harrison while fighting on that damaged knee.

Against Harrison, Gheirati shelved his trademark kicks entirely and leaned on his boxing and clinch work instead. He shut things down afterward for a full recovery, and the results have surprised even him.
“After ACL surgery, some people said, ‘You’ll never be like before. It’s going to be a long time before you can fight again.’ But my body recovered so well and so fast,” Gheirati said.
“I have stability, and I have balance in my knee, and I feel good. I’m very self-confident in my knee, even if I take a strong low kick. Everything is good.”
The Petsaman affiliate won six straight fights before his only promotional loss, to former ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon. He blames a fractured mental state for that night, not any gap in skill.

Nakrob, 27, is fresh off a patient decision win over Jacob Smith that snapped a three-fight skid. Gheirati sees a powerful puncher who leaves himself open, and he would welcome the Thai walking forward.
Beyond Friday, his sights are set on the man who beat him and on newly crowned ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri. The Rambolek defeat, he admits, still keeps him up at night.
“Every night, I’m thinking about a rematch with Rambolek. I have eight fights and only lost to Rambolek. I want a rematch,” Gheirati said.
“Now I feel good. Everything is ready, my body is ready. Mentally, I’m better. I’ll fight everybody in the rankings. I want to fight for the ONE Championship belt.”
