Rising prospect Aadam Hamed has delivered an honest and emotional response to the constant comparisons with his legendary father Naseem Hamed, making it clear he is ready to step out of the shadow while still embracing the legacy.
Speaking ahead of his upcoming fight, Aadam struck a balanced tone between pride and frustration.
“I am proud to be his son and proud to be here. I am very very grateful,” he said, acknowledging the platform his father’s name has given him. At the same time, he highlighted just how focused he is on his own performance, adding that this is “the most relaxed I’ve ever been going into a fight” and that he has had his best training camp and weight cut to date.
The 2023 professional debutant remains unbeaten early in his career, steadily building experience while appearing on major fight cards. Fighting as a southpaw, Aadam has shown composure and discipline, choosing a more measured style rather than directly copying the flamboyance that made his father a global icon.
Determined to Earn His Own Name
While many young fighters might shy away from discussing privilege, Aadam addressed it head on.
“I am in a very blessed position because of my father and I know that,” he admitted.
He openly recognised that opportunities have come quicker due to his surname, even saying he likely would not be earning the same or featuring on big shows without that connection.

However, he was equally clear about the work happening behind the scenes.
“No one is getting in there and fighting for me. No one is waking up every morning and going to the gym sparring top kids. That’s me doing that,” he said, reinforcing that his progress is built on his own effort.
Despite the admiration he holds for his father, even stating “everything he says turns into gold,” Aadam is eager to shift the narrative. “I’m sick of those comparisons,” he said, before making his goal clear. “I am looking forward to the recognition of Aadam Hamed, not Prince Naseem’s son.”
As his unbeaten run continues, Aadam now faces the challenge of turning honesty into performances, knowing that victories inside the ring are the only way to truly define his own legacy.
