Victor Hugo’s resume already includes 125 professional wins, four IBJJF World Championships, and fresh ADCC World Championship gold. On Friday, November 6, he adds a ONE Championship debut to that list.
The 29-year-old Brazilian faces Devhonte “Bones” Johnson in an openweight submission grappling bout at ONE Fight Night 49 on Prime Video, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. Both men are making their promotional debuts on the world’s biggest grappling stage.

Hugo captured +99kg gold at the 2026 ADCC World Championships, joining fellow ONE athletes Helena Crevar and Pawel Jaworski as ADCC World Champions. He submitted all four of his opponents from guard, including Josh Saunders in the gold medal match.
Nicknamed “Big Man Flow,” he stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 260 pounds but moves with the fluidity of a much lighter athlete. His open guard produces rapid triangles, armbars, and leg entanglements, while his top game relies on crushing pressure and constant transitions.
The Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu product trains under Xande Ribeiro alongside Rafael Lovato Jr., who beat Giancarlo Bodoni at ONE 173. Having recently announced his retirement from ADCC competition, Hugo now turns his full attention to the world’s largest martial artsorganization.

Johnson took a far less traditional route. The New Jersey native excelled at basketball and baseball before discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu during his senior year of high school, then devoted himself completely to the mats.
The Bones BJJ and Unity Jiu-Jitsu representative holds an 83-46-1 record, with 2021 gold at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, Pan American No-Gi Championship, and European No-Gi Championship. He relies on explosive wrestling and a strong front headlock tohunt D’arce, anaconda, and guillotine chokes.
Their contrasting approaches promise a fascinating chess match. Hugo thrives on instant finishing instincts, while Johnson prefers to grind opponents down through suffocating positional control and aggressive passing until they feel helpless.
An ADCC crown has already confirmed Hugo’s place among the sport’s elite. November 6 will reveal whether that dominance carries over to ONE, or whether Johnson can introduce himself with the upset of the night.
