UFC light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira says he would be open to a boxing match with heavyweight boxing world champion Oleksandr Usyk. Pereira will make the fourth defense of his light-heavyweight title against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Ahead of the fight, the Brazilian has said he would move up to heavyweight or down to middleweight, where he previously held the title. Jon Jones is the UFC heavyweight champion and Dricus du Plessis holds the middleweight strap.
Moreover, he also called out Oleksandr Usyk for a boxing fight. He said, “In the future I would like Dricus or Jon Jones or even fighting Oleksandr Usyk in boxing,” Pereira said. “I see those possibly happening, but it doesn’t depend on me. It depends on the UFC.”
He was asked whether the UFC’s involvement in a new boxing league backed by investment from Saudi Arabia could pave the way for him to meet WBA (Super), WBC and WBO heavyweight champion Usyk, Pereira said he was “happy” to hear the news.
“Who knows – September, Saudi Arabia?” he said.

Can Alex Pereira beat Oleksandr Usyk in boxing?
Alex Pereira and Oleksandr Usyk come from different combat sports backgrounds, making a direct comparison a bit tricky. Pereira is a former kickboxing champion who transitioned into MMA, while Usyk is a highly skilled and undefeated professional boxer, known for his technical prowess, footwork, and movement in the ring.
If the two were to fight in a boxing ring, Usyk would likely have the advantage due to his extensive experience, skills, and success at the elite level of boxing. His technical boxing abilities and experience in championship bouts would make him a difficult opponent for Pereira, who is still relatively new to boxing.
Pereira, however, is an explosive striker with knockout power, so while he may have less experience in the ring, his striking ability and athleticism could make it an interesting matchup. But, as of now, Usyk would be considered the favorite in a boxing match.
