The title rematch between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev took place last night as the main event of UFC 320. Going into the bout, Pereira was considered an underdog by many fans, with most expecting Ankalaev to repeat his previous victory. However, against all odds, ‘Poatan’ won the bout via a brutal TKO finish in the very first round.
Ahead of the fight, Ankalaev was extremely confident, promising a knockout victory to finally settle the intense rivalry with Pereira. The trash-talking and heated beef between both fighters was incredible, making the pre-fight face-off look tense and emotionally charged. As the Russian entered the octagon, he was met with loud boos, and the crowd erupted when Pereira landed a massive right.

Following the knockdown, the Brazilian delivered a brutal series of strikes, forcing the referee to stop the bout immediately. Despite all the trash-talking, Ankalaev was completely helpless, unable to defend himself or respond effectively to Pereira’s relentless assault. Pereira was hyped after the win, and so were his fans, as they considered Anklaev a boring champion.

Who’s next in line to fight Alex Pereira?
Alex Pereira has already defended the UFC light heavyweight title three times within a single year against elite top-ranked contenders. According to Pereira, he was dealing with an injury during his first fight against Magomed Ankalaev, which negatively impacted his performance. With this latest victory over Ankalaev, Pereira has made a strong statement and is fully prepared for future challenges ahead.
Top light heavyweight contender Jiri Prochazka also competed at UFC 320, securing a victory over Khalil Rountree in impressive fashion. The Czech fighter was present at the Octagon side during Pereira’s win, appearing ready and eager to challenge him for the third time. Additionally, Carlos Ulberg attended the event, signaling his ambition to fight for the light heavyweight title after defeating Dominick Reyes recently.
Newly crowned middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev also congratulated Pereira and shared his intentions to fight the Brazilian. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see who the UFC sees as the top candidate for Pereira’s title defence.
