Former UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has raised doubts about the future of the BMF title, suggesting that fans may have already seen the last of the symbolic belt in the UFC.

The BMF (Baddest Motherf***er) championship was originally introduced in 2019 when Jorge Masvidal defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 244. The belt was designed as a one-off attraction to reward fighters known for their exciting fighting style and willingness to take on anyone.

However, speaking recently about the belt’s relevance, Volkanovski hinted that it may no longer serve the purpose it was originally created for.

Volkanovski explained that he would not be surprised if the promotion eventually decided to retire the title altogether. According to the Australian star, the belt was meant to highlight fighters who consistently put on entertaining fights, but its meaning may have started to fade over time.

He clarified that his comments were not intended as criticism toward the current BMF champion, Charles Oliveira. Instead, Volkanovski said he simply believes the belt’s original concept may be losing its impact within the sport.

Volkanovski emphasized that the idea behind the belt was always about rewarding fighters who bring excitement every time they step into the octagon. If that message becomes diluted, he believes the UFC may reconsider keeping the title active.

The BMF belt has always been more about entertainment than rankings or divisional hierarchy. With the UFC constantly evolving and introducing new superfights, there is speculation that the promotion could quietly move away from the concept in the future.

For now, the belt remains part of the UFC landscape, but Volkanovski’s comments have reignited debate among fans about whether the BMF title still serves a meaningful role in modern MMA.
