Andre Muniz Withdraws from UFC Saudi Arabia Bout Against Ikram Aliskerov
Andre Muniz has officially withdrawn from his highly anticipated UFC Saudi Arabia bout against Ikram Aliskerov due to passport issues, which he announced via social media on Saturday. The Brazilian middleweight had been scheduled to face Aliskerov in a crucial matchup at UFC Saudi Arabia, set for February 1 at the ANB Arena in Riyadh. However, the UFC has decided to move the fight to a future date rather than seeking a short-notice replacement for Aliskerov. While the promotion has yet to confirm the new date, the announcement of Muniz’s withdrawal has certainly created a ripple in the event’s lineup.
UFC Saudi Arabia is still set to feature a thrilling main event, with former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya taking on Nassourdine Imavov. The event is anticipated to draw considerable attention, but the Muniz-Aliskerov clash was one of the most eagerly awaited matchups on the card.
Muniz, 24-6 as a professional, has not fought since December 2023, when he earned a hard-fought split decision victory over Jun Yong Park. The Brazilian is known for his submission prowess, boasting impressive first-round armbars against top fighters like Ronaldo Souza, Eryk Anders, and Bartosz Fabinski. His opponent, Aliskerov, is coming off a loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC Saudi Arabia last year but has earned impressive first-round finishes over Phil Hawes and Warlley Alves during his UFC tenure.
