Chris Eubank Sr. Open to Exhibition Comeback to Deter Son from Conor Benn Rematch

Boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr., now 58, has voiced his readiness to step back into the ring for an exhibition bout—on one condition: that his son, Chris Eubank Jr., does not proceed with a potential rematch against Conor Benn. Eubank Sr. believes his son has accomplished enough and should walk away from the sport while on top.

During a recent podcast episode, Eubank Sr. made his intentions clear:

“If you don’t get back into the ring Jr, then neither will I. But if you get back in the ring, I will get back in the ring in some exhibition match. I’m going to pressure you. You want to fight again? OK, then I will fight too. Cause I’m with you.”

Eubank Jr., 35, is rumored to be in talks for a second bout with Benn, potentially happening on September 27. However, his father is urging him to retire and prioritize his well-being over another big payday or rivalry bout.

In his remarks, Eubank Sr. emphasized the importance of peace of mind, saying:

“I wouldn’t sell my peace of mind … No, I’m not taking aim again … . If I take aim again, I … .”

Eubank Sr. hung up his gloves in 1998 after a decorated career that included iconic fights against Nigel Benn and Michael Watson. His suggestion to return in an exhibition setting highlights not only his ongoing passion for boxing but also his deep concern for his son’s future in the sport.

Whether or not the exhibition comeback materializes, the senior Eubank’s words add another layer to the evolving story of one of boxing’s most well-known families. His protective stance sends a strong message about the emotional weight behind legacy, health, and the decisions fighters make at the tail end of their careers.
