George Jarvis Carries Father’s Legacy and Son’s Future Into Regian Eersel Championship War

George Jarvis never expected fatherhood to redefine everything he understood about sacrifice, but the British striker now enters the biggest fight of his career carrying weight that extends far beyond championship gold.

The 25-year-old challenger will attempt to dethrone reigning king Regian Eersel for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Championship at ONE Fight Night 34 on Prime Video this Friday, August 1, inside Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Stadium. His corner will feature the man who shaped him from age 5, while his son provides the driving force that has transformed personal ambition into generational responsibility.

Jarvis began his striking journey under his father’s guidance at a local gym where discipline became the foundation for their relationship. Twenty years later, that partnership remains the cornerstone of his championship pursuit. His father has missed only one fight throughout his entire career, creating an unshakeable connection between mentor and student. The Englishman credits this consistency for developing the mental fortitude necessary to challenge elite competition.

Now fatherhood has added new dimensions to his competitive fire. Training sessions that once centered on personal achievement carry the burden of securing his family’s future through excellence. The hours spent perfecting techniques serve a purpose that transcends personal glory, with each repetition representing investment in his child’s tomorrow.

“I’m not doing everything for me anymore. Everything’s for him. When training gets tough, I only got to look at him,” Jarvis explained. “Since we started, we never knew how far we was going to get together.”

Rather than pursuing traditional isolation, Jarvis brought his entire support system to Thailand for his most crucial preparation. The presence of his partner and son provides daily reminders of what drives him through grueling sessions. This unconventional approach required delicate balance between family responsibilities and elite-level training demands, with his schedule accommodating a young child while maintaining championship-level intensity.

The emotional support of having loved ones nearby has enhanced his mental preparation rather than creating distraction. Each return from training brings renewed purpose and clarity about his mission against Eersel. The sight of his son watching training sessions serves as constant motivation, transforming routine preparation into something approaching sacred duty.

“If I was out here on my own it wouldn’t be the same. I’d be missing them,” he said. “We’re not just a family. We are a team.”
