George Jarvis promises to make his “lifetime of work” count at ONE Fight Night 34

George Jarvis has his debut ONE title fight on the 1st August

Lightweight Muay Thai star George Jarvis will look to become only the second ever British World Champion in ONE Championship this August.

Announced on Friday, the Londoner will challenge reigning ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Champion Regian Eersel in the main event of ONE Fight Night 34 on Saturday, 2nd August, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Jarvis’ arrival in ONE Championship has been nothing short of meteoric. Following a split-decision loss in his debut at ONE Friday Fights 35 in September 2023, “G-Unit” has ascended to World Title contender in impressive fashion.

He first beat Mustafa Al Tekreeti in February 2024 to show a whole new side of his striking prowess, taking home the decision win at ONE Friday Fights 51.

Then he took out two contracted combatants with style points. The first saw him outstrike Ricardo Bravo by unanimous decision in August 2024, before firmly cementing his status as a credible threat in the division with a third-round knockout of Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong at ONE Friday Fights 85 last November.

Feeling deserving of the coveted US$100,000 contract with ONE Championship, Jarvis then took to ONE’s Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong to state his case. And moments later, his wish was granted to the mainstage of the world’s largest martial arts promotion.

The victories kept on coming, and Jarvis continued to call his shots. That was never more evident than his outstanding showing at ONE Fight Night 30 this April. He outclassed old foe Mouhcine Chafi across three rounds of lightweight Muay Thai action.

He followed up on the victory by taking to the microphone to set his sights on reigning king Eersel, who boasts an incredible record of 63-5. He has only lost once in his last 23 fights, and only once in the Asia-based promotion to make himself the most formidable talent in lightweight striking.

Just months after making his case, the British star puts his money where his mouth is later this summer. He views the opportunity as the embodiment of a lifetime’s worth of work, and promises not to let it slip by him.

“l appreciate every one of you. For those who have watched my journey over the past few years you will know how hard l’ve worked to get to this moment,” he wrote on his Instagram.

“This is a lifetime of work and I’m ready to show the world!”

Should Jarvis prevail, he’ll become only the second British talent to wear gold in ONE Championship, following in the footsteps of ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Haggerty.

UK fans can watch ONE Fight Night 34 on Saturday, 2nd August, live on Sky Sports at 2am. More fights are expected to be announced in the near future.
