Gervonta Davis’ Coach Accuses Jake Paul of Lying About Canceled Fight

Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis

The boxing world is once again caught in a storm of accusations and confusion after Gervonta Davis’ coach, Kenny Ellis, claimed that Jake Paul is lying about why their anticipated bout was canceled. The comments, which surfaced through deleted Instagram stories and were later shared by combat sports outlet Happy Punch, have reignited tensions between both camps.

According to Ellis, the fight’s cancellation had nothing to do with Gervonta Davis’ recent legal controversies or Netflix’s alleged decision to withdraw from hosting the event. Instead, Ellis insists that Jake Paul himself pulled out, suggesting that the YouTuber-turned-boxer wasn’t ready for the fight and might have been struggling to make the contracted weight of 195 pounds.

Ellis didn’t hold back, saying Jake “has a far worse track record” and accusing him of backing out due to fear. “Netflix did not pull the fight, so don’t blame Gervonta Davis’ accusations. Jake Paul backed out. He said he was scared out of his own mouth,” Ellis allegedly wrote.

This adds another twist to the saga, as Jake Paul had previously claimed that Netflix canceled the bout following Gervonta Davis’ legal troubles. Paul has been building a record of 12-1, facing names like Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, while Davis remains one of boxing’s most explosive stars, known for his knockout power and undefeated record.

Whether Ellis’ claims are entirely accurate remains uncertain, but they’ve sparked a fresh debate among fans. Many are questioning if Paul’s camp used Davis’ situation as an excuse, or if deeper issues behind the scenes led to the collapse of one of the most hyped matchups of the year.

With both fighters known for their outspoken personalities, the verbal sparring may continue long before either steps back into the ring.
