Tyson Fury has long been recognised for his psychological tactics in the realm of professional boxing. He often provokes his opponents in the lead-up to a match, causing them to concentrate more on him than on their own preparation or the bout itself. However, following his defeat to Usyk, Tyson Fury is now experiencing this psychological pressure firsthand himself.
Tyson Fury fought Oleksandr Usyk on the 18th May this year for the Undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. After 12 rounds, Uysk was crowned the winner by split decision. Now, their rematch is scheduled for tonight and we are seeing a totally different Fury to their first bout. Fury was more vocal in the first press conferences and he was still doing his famous show-boating during the fight.
However, this time round, he hasn’t been quite as vocal, only vowing he will destroy Uysk. During a recent interview Fury said he hasn’t even spoke to his wife Paris for 3 months to help with the preparation with the fight. Tyson Fury has tipped the scales at his career-heaviest weight and was 281lbs (20st 1lb) at Friday’s weigh-in in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, making him nearly 4 stone heavier than Uysk.
The Fury vs Usyk 2 is certainly going to be a fantastic fight to watch, especially to see if this different, heavier Fury pays off.
