This Saturday in the main event of UFC 330, Islam Makhachev takes on Ian Garry in a much anticipated welterweight clash. The fight will take place at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the hype around it is massive.
It will be Makhachev’s first title defense since winning the belt last year by beating former champion Jack Della Maddalena. For Ian Garry it’s an opportunity to pull an upset and bring the UFC belt back to Ireland since Conor McGregor.

Garry has repeatedly framed the matchup as a sequel to the iconic Khabib Nurmagomedov versus Conor McGregor rivalry from 2018. Now, McGregor has joined the conversation, offering his prediction for the highly anticipated UFC 330 welterweight title clash.
“Let’s go Garry. He has the tools, he’s long, he’s gonna stay safe. Makhachev still has things to prove in that welterweight division. How do I see it? Right high kick across the crown of the head, and a victory for the Irish Brazilian,” said Conor McGregor via Instagram.

In order to fight Makhachev, Garry has been improving his wrestling and was seen training in Brazil and as well as in Georgia. The fighter has respected Makhachev’s skillset but is confident about getting his hand raised this Saturday.
On the other hand, the Dagestani champion is currently on an impressive 16 fight win streak and plans to continue that. Makhachev is motivated to beat Anderson Silva’s record and write his name as one of the best of all time.

Islam Makhachev talks about potential boxing match with Conor McGregor
The rivalry between Conor McGregor and Team Khabib has been going on for a long time. Since the infamous brawl in 2018, both the parties rarely miss any opportunity to troll each other.
Following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement, Islam Makhachev has taken the mantle and continued the dominance. McGregor recently made his comeback however, got injured in the first round.
In a recent interview, Makhachev talked about him eyeing for a potential boxing bout with McGregor. “I was at a boxing event with Turki Alalshikh, and he asked me if I’d box Conor McGregor. I said I was down, and he called Conor. We couldn’t really talk because he started some… body language. (laughs),” said Islam Makhachev via UFC Eurasia.
