Hiroki Akimoto Vs. Taimu Hisai Completes The ONE SAMURAI 1 Card For April 29
The full card for ONE SAMURAI 1 is now set, and it is headlined by four World Title fights at Tokyo’s Ariake Arena on Wednesday, April 29.
Former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Hiroki Akimoto has been added to the bill, taking on 20-year-old Taimu Hisai in an all-Japanese bantamweight kickboxing showdown to complete the lineup.
Akimoto carries a 28-4 record and one of the more compelling career arcs on the card. The Power of Dream Kyokushin Karate technician made history in 2022 at ONE X when he defeated Capitan Petchyindee over five rounds to become Japan’s first-ever ONE Kickboxing World Champion.
He lost the belt in his next outing and suffered two further defeats against elite opposition before finding his footing again in 2025 with statement wins over former ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion John “Hands of Stone” Lineker and former title challenger Wei Rui.
A two-fight winning streak in hand, he returns to his home country looking to build further momentum against a hungry young challenger.
Hisai is 20 years old with a 20-6 record and a successful ONE debut behind him. A win over a former world champion in his second promotional appearance would announce him immediately.
The pair join a card stacked with championship stakes and Japanese martial arts heritage. Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa clash in the headline act for the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Championship, a rematch that carries the weight of Takeru’s retirement announcement. He has stated this will be the final fight of his legendary career.
ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu defends against the surging Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev, ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Haggerty puts his belt on the line against Yuki Yoza, and ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka defends against Songchainoi Kiatsongrit.
