The UFC White House event is scheduled to take place on June 14, 2026, to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. UFC CEO Dana White has promised to bring the biggest and most exciting fight card in the history of the promotion. As expected, the highly anticipated event has attracted several top superstars, including the former welterweight title contender Jorge Masvidal.
Jorge Masvidal announced his retirement from the UFC back in 2023 after facing a difficult four-fight losing streak in succession. Following his retirement, Masvidal decided to test his skills in boxing, stepping into the ring against his old rival, Nate Diaz. Unfortunately, the fight did not go his way as Masvidal suffered a tough defeat, adding another setback to his journey.
Despite the loss, Masvidal seems motivated again and is now eager to make his return at the White House event. The ‘Gamebred’ star remains a proud patriot and continues to show his strong support for President Donald Trump. In a recent interview, Masvidal expressed his determination to do everything possible to secure a spot on the card. “I’ve been training for like 2–3 months now. I’m calling Trump and everybody — you got to get me on this card. I’m just staying focused, staying in shape; hopefully everything works out,” said Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal was undoubtedly one of the biggest draws in the UFC during his prime, delivering unforgettable performances throughout his career. His iconic flying knee knockout against Ben Askren remains the fastest finish in UFC history and a legendary highlight reel moment. However, considering his recent form, fans wonder if he’ll earn the opportunity to perform again on the biggest stage.

Jorge Masvidal calls out Leon Edwards for the White House event
The rivalry between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards has been ongoing for several years, stemming from their infamous backstage altercation. Since that moment, both fighters have continuously exchanged insults and trash talk online, keeping tensions alive and fans highly entertained. This heated feud has all the ingredients of a true grudge match that would undoubtedly leave fans extremely hyped.
“I’m still always down to fight Leon just ’cause we got all the history. I’ve never had any ill will towards Leon and I still don’t have ill will towards him, but I’d still love to punch him in the face and just settle all that. If it’s not Leon, just give me somebody that’s going to come and fight. Let’s throw down for the president.” Masvidal continued.
Apart from Masvidal, Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, Alex Pereira, and Islam Makhachev have all shared a strong interest in fighting UFC at this historic event. Dana White and the UFC team now face the challenge of selecting the perfect roster for the biggest event in the promotion’s history.
