Lerone Murphy is one of the top prospects for winning the UFC featherweight title and is currently scheduled to fight this weekend. Murphy will take on Movsar Evloev in a much-anticipated potential title eliminator at the main event of UFC London.
Murphy started MMA in 2018 and is currently undefeated, having participated in 17 professional bouts with 8 knockout wins. However, before all this, the fighter had a near-death experience in Manchester in 2013, which left a huge mark on Murphy.

“Yeah, May 25th, a big change in my life, really. I sat outside a barber’s shop with a few of my friends. It was actually my mum’s birthday as well that day, which is crazy. A car pulls up. It’s like everything happened in slow motion, almost. It’s like a weird day, really weird day. So a car pulls up anyway, starts shooting. I just remember looking up, thinking, ‘What, I’m still alive’?,” said Lerone Murphy via UFC.

"The doctor couldn't take it out he said it was like finding a needle in a haystack it would have caused more damage to take it out than to leave it in. [It's still in my tongue]"

According to the UK fighter, he couldn’t understand what was happening, and the shooting continued for a few minutes. He thought about all the random things in the moment and got shot through the face, but survived.
“The doctor couldn’t take it out. He said it was like finding a needle in a haystack, so it would have caused more damage to take it out than you did,” Murphy continued.

Jean Silva warns Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev ahead of UFC London
The UFC featherweight division is stacked, and the champion Alexander Volkanovski is ready to defend his belt next. The winner of Lerone Murphy vs. Movsar Evloev has a strong chance of getting the title shot next after UFC London.
However, if the fight fails to entertain the UK crowd, #6-ranked Jean Silva is ready to snatch the opportunity for himself. The Brazilian recently shared a message for the top main event fighters at UFC London.
“We’re heading out on this trip, invited by Hunter and Dana, to watch the fight between Evloev and Murphy up close. And to sign the contract for the belt. It’s going to be the biggest promotion people have ever seen in history when that contract for the belt gets signed, because I’m going to sell this fight. After that boring fight [Evloev vs. Murphy], I’m going to go up there and hand both of them their termination,” said Jean Silva.

In his last fight, Silva beat Arnold Allen via unanimous decision in order to bounce back from his previous loss to Diego Lopes. However, the fighter is well known for his unfiltered personality and aggressive marketing. It would be interesting to see who among these three fighters will get the shot against Alexander Volkanovski next.
