Jake Paul Makes Failed Attempt To Make Khabib Nurmagomedov Fight On MVP
Jake Paul has revealed his ambitions for the future of MVP X PFL MMA, even attempting to convince former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to make a stunning return to competition under the newly merged promotion.
Paul and MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian attended PFL New York last Friday, shortly after confirming MVP MMA’s merger with the Professional Fighters League. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for the organization, with Paul actively meeting fighters backstage and discussing future opportunities.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer reportedly spoke with several athletes following their bouts, even offering luxury cars during negotiations. However, one of his most ambitious recruitment attempts came when he approached Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team after Usman Nurmagomedov’s victory.

Usman, who is considered by many to be one of the world’s top lightweights, completed the final fight of his PFL contract on Friday. Reports indicate the promotion chose not to renew his deal before the bout, making his future a major talking point.
After the fight, Paul met with Khabib backstage and used the opportunity to pitch his vision for the future of MVP MMA.
“What do you think MVP x PFL?” Jake Paul asked Khabib backstage.
“It’s amazing, I think it’s good for MMA,” Khabib answered.
Paul then explained why he believes the new promotion can reshape the sport.
“With what we’re doing, this merger with MVP, we’re changing MMA forever where we give fighters a better place to live. If you fought for us, it would monumentally change the sport forever, it’s about change,” Paul told Khabib.
Despite Paul’s passionate pitch, there was little indication that the former UFC champion was interested in returning.
Khabib famously retired in October 2020 after submitting Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 to defend his lightweight title. Following the victory, he announced his retirement, explaining that he had promised his mother he would no longer compete after the passing of his father and longtime coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
Since then, Khabib has repeatedly dismissed speculation about a comeback, instead focusing on coaching and guiding fighters such as Usman Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. While Paul’s proposal highlighted his vision for the future of MVP MMA, Khabib’s long-standing stance on retirement appears unchanged.
