Jake Peacock Promises Strategic Surprise For Pressure Fighter Suakim

Jake Peacock has spent 12 weeks crafting a strategic blueprint specifically designed to counter Suakim Sor Jor Tongprajin’s relentless forward pressure, yet the British-Canadian striker refuses revealing those secrets until Sunday when everyone discovers the surprise simultaneously inside Tokyo’s arena.

The 32-year-old faces the former three-division Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 at Ariake Arena, where his perfect promotional record meets perhaps its toughest examination against a Thai veteran riding five consecutive ONE Championship victories.

Peacock’s preparation has split between Bangkok’s 8 Star Muay Thai and Superpro Samui on Koh Samui, escaping Canadian distractions while sharpening weapons through new sparring partners who provided fresh challenges. That 12-week immersion included his family experiencing their first ONE event, creating simple daily rhythms focused on training, recovery, and quality time together.

“Part of coming here was to bring my family so they can watch a ONE Championship event. Back home, there’s so much going on. I’ve got a lot of responsibility. But [here], all I’m going to do is relax with the family and training,” he said.

His mental preparation carries equal importance to physical refinement. The Road to ONE: Canada winner believes elite-level competition separates fighters through mentality rather than technical skills, since everyone at world-class levels possesses dangerous striking across all eight limbs.

“At this level, at the world level, you’re talking about the top 20 in the world. It’s all mental, because we can all punch, kick, knee, and elbow. We’re all fit, we’re all tough. It’s about mentality at this stage,” he said.

Suakim represents the ultimate mental test. The Thai warrior’s legendary toughness was showcased when he continued fighting after breaking his orbital bone early in his last bout, refusing to relent despite increased punishment. His five-fight ONE winning streak has established him as one of bantamweight Muay Thai’s most dangerous contenders.

Yet Peacock believes his power differs from anything Suakim has absorbed during that winning streak. His promotional debut saw unanimous decision domination of Kohei Shinjo at ONE Friday Fights 58, while February’s triple-knockdown destruction of Shinji Suzuki earned third-round stoppage at ONE 171: Qatar.

“They’re gonna expect a certain style from me. They’re gonna get something completely different, I guarantee it. Everyone has an idea about my style, but they have no idea the other areas I’m capable of. And I think it would be a big shock,” he said.
