There are fighters who go the distance, and there are fighters who simply do not let it get that far. Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado has always been the second kind, and he intends to prove it again on Friday night.
The Filipino veteran opens ONE Fight Night 41: Sinsamut vs. Jarvis on Prime Video in a flyweight MMA clash against South Africa’s Willie “White Lion” van Rooyen, live in U.S. primetime on March 13 from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Since joining ONE Championship in 2017, Miado has built his reputation on stoppages. In fact, six of his seven promotional victories came by finish, and the 33-year-old from Albay has no interest in changing his approach now.
Van Rooyen arrives with credentials that demand genuine attention. The 23-year-old bulldozed through the African circuit, ran up a 7-0 record, and claimed the EFC Flyweight Championship before earning his spot on the global stage.
His promotional debut ended in a second-round TKO loss to Avazbek Kholmirzaev at ONE Fight Night 37 last November. It was the first blemish on an otherwise spotless record, and he steps into Friday night with something to prove. Miado has studied him carefully and found a well-rounded kickboxer with sharp striking, good level changes, and a composed temperament that belies his age.

The respect, however, stops at the wrists. Miado’s years grinding against the promotion’s finest have built a mental bedrock that no amount of unbeaten momentum can replicate, and he believes the power gap between them will settle the argument the moment contact is made.
“When it comes to our striking, I believe it will come down to who has more power,” Miado said. “I hit a lot harder than him. I know I can take his shots, but let’s see how he’ll deal once I hit him with mine.”
The prediction is not a throwaway line. For Miado, every fight ends the same way in his mind before it begins — on the canvas, his hand raised. March 13 is no different.
“This will be a slugfest. Fans can expect an all-action war from start to finish. This won’t go the distance. I’ll finish him in round one or round two via TKO. I doubt the judges will be needed,” he said.
