Jiri Prochazka vs Jamahal Hill: Predictions, Analysis, and Breakdown

The Light Heavyweight division is heating up with another fight under the UFC 311 main card. Jiri Prochazka will face Jamahal Hill in a 3-round bout. Here’s what you need to know—and who might be worth your bet.

Fighters Profiles and Strength

Jiri Prochazka

Jiri Prochazka is coming off a loss to UFC champion Alex Pereira at UFC 303. Their first fight at UFC 295 in 2023 also ended in a loss for Jiri—a second-round TKO from hammer fists and elbows.

In 2024, he bounced back at UFC 300, earning Performance of the Night with a TKO win over Aleksandar Rakić. Jiri joined the UFC in 2020 and has won four of his six fights so far.

Before UFC, his run in the RIZIN promotion was remarkable. He fought 12 opponents there, losing only once. One of his biggest wins was against Muhammed Lawal for the vacant RFF Light Heavyweight Championship, landing a decisive punch two minutes before the end of the third round. In 2019, he defended that title with a TKO via left hook against C.B. Dollaway.

Now 32, Jiri is ranked number 2 in the UFC Light Heavyweight division.

Jamahal Hill

Jamahal Hill, nicknamed “Sweet Dreams,” is coming off a loss to Alex Pereira. He fought Pereira for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship and lost via left hook and ground strikes.

Despite this, Jamahal’s career has seen more wins than losses. In 2018, early in his pro career, he claimed the KOP Light Heavyweight Championship by defeating Dequan Townsend via unanimous decision at KOP 62.

In 2023, he captured the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. He won it at UFC 283, beating Glover Teixeira through a unanimous decision.

Jamahal has earned several awards for his performances. He won UFC Fight Night’s Performance of the Night for his victories over Jimmy Crute and Johnny Walker.

Keys to Victory

Jiri Prochazka`s Path to Success

Jiri, ranked number two, will aim to improve his striking as the underdog in this fight. He has shown his potential by bouncing back from a loss to the division’s number one. Hill, on the other hand, might still be dealing with the mental effects of his recent loss and recovering from an Achilles injury. Jiri will look to take advantage of that.

Jamahal Hill`s Path to Success

Jamahal Hill will aim to use the same strategy he employed in 2021 against Jimmy Crute. He has eight wins in three-round fights, one loss to Paul Craig, and a no-contest against Klidson Abreu. Hill is known for making an impression in every fight, and this one won’t be any different.

He’ll also have his eyes on the “Performance of the Night” bonus. However, since his injury in 2023, his kicks haven’t been as effective. Instead, he’ll rely on his punching power, which has proven to be a strong asset.

Final Prediction

Both fighters have something in common—they’ve both faced Alex Pereira and lost. Jiri lost to him twice, both times in the second round, while Jamahal lost in the first round. Interestingly, Pereira was their last opponent before this fight. This gives some insight into who might handle tougher competition, like Pereira, for longer.

The bookies see this as a balanced matchup, reflected in the odds. Jamahal hasn’t had a three-round fight since 2021 when he beat Jimmy Crute in the first round. However, in other three-round bouts, his fights usually go the distance or to the judges’ decision.

Both former champions have the chance to redeem themselves with a win here. This fight will be a striking battle, and the fighter with harder, more accurate punches will likely come out on top. While rankings favor Jamahal Hill, who is more defensive and lands cleaner strikes, my pick would be Jiri. However, if I were betting, I’d wager on this fight going the distance.
