Third-ranked flyweight Muay Thai contender Kongthoranee Sor Sommai wants to prove he’s worth his position in the stacked division when he rematches former bantamweight king Nong-O Hama this coming weekend.
The 28-year-old meets the Thai legend for the second time in flyweight Muay Thai in the main event of ONE Fight Night 31 in flyweight Muay Thai this Saturday, 3rd May, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.

Kongthoranee bested Nong-O by a contentious split decision in their first clash in February, and he picked up some essential bits of information about how the superstar fights along the way, which he hopes to take advantage of to win outright when they run it back.
“I learned that Nong-O has very good timing. The way to deal with him is that I have to be faster than him,” Kongthoranee analysed.
“I was happy with my performance in the first fight, but others may have some doubts, so this time, I will make it clear. [I wanted the rematch] because this time, everyone will finally be able to end their arguments.”
For the rapidly rising Thai talent, defeating Nong-O again isn’t just business. It’s become personal.
Kongthoranee received plenty of negative messages after ONE Fight Night 28, with many fans believing the result should have gone the other way, so he has extra motivation to impress this time.
The third-ranked flyweight knows Nong-O will enter the bout willing to throw everything at him to get the win, which has pushed him to prepare for an intense battle.
“After I received a lot of trash messages, it motivated me to work harder so that no one will think negatively of me anymore,” Kongthoranee said.
“I expect this fight to be fierce, and as I said, if I get the chance to finish, I will go for it.”
