A late change has reshaped the lineup for ONE Fight Night 47, and Elmehdi “The Sniper” El Jamari now has as much on the line as ever when he steps in against an unfamiliar face this Friday, September 4.
Ellis “El Jefe” Badr Barboza, the former ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title challenger, was forced to withdraw from the strawweight Muay Thai bout due to injury, and unbeaten Vietnamese prospect Ngoc Phu Nguyen has stepped in to fill the slot.
The bout still broadcasts live from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium in U.S. primetime, keeping the card’s biggest names intact even with the late shuffle.
For El Jamari, the stakes could hardly be higher. The 29-year-old Barcelona-based Moroccan made an electric first impression on the promotion, flattening Thongpoon PK Saenchai in under three minutes during his April 2025 debut.
Since then, two consecutive losses have followed, first to current ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Champion Aliff Sor Dechapan and then to former two-division, two-sport titleholder Sam-A Gaiyanghadao. Both defeats have left El Jamari needing a definitive answer, and a return to the win column is no longer optional.
Those two losses came against elite company, but the margin for excuses has narrowed considerably heading into September. A statement performance against Nguyen would go a long way toward restoring the momentum that once made El Jamari one of the division’s most exciting newcomers.
