Who is Matt Floyd?

Matt Floyd was born on 22 March 1989 in Adelaide, South Australia, before moving to Perth, Western Australia, when he was just six months old. Growing up in Perth, Floyd discovered his passion for boxing and went on to compete professionally, building a solid record inside the ring.

His journey, however, wasn’t without obstacles. Floyd spent time in jail, a period he openly reflects on as years that cost him valuable opportunities in both life and sport. Since his release, he has been determined to turn things around, using combat sports as a way to channel his energy and prove himself. For Floyd, fighting is not just about competition—it is about making up for his lost time and writing a new chapter.

While Floyd established himself as a boxer, he is now set to make his bare-knuckle debut next weekend against James Degale on BKFC, a move that underlines his willingness to take risks and embrace challenges head-on.

Floyd is already seeing past his next opponent as he is dedicated on making a fight happen against Andrew Tate. He believes it would be a great opportunity for him. However, Tate’s coach had said it would be an easy win for Tate. Moreover, as much as negotiating is taking place, Floyd spoke with Daniel Knight from Sidekick and he had his own advice to give.

What Did Daniel Knight Say About Matt Floyd vs Andrew Tate?

The idea of Matt Floyd taking on Andrew Tate has stirred plenty of conversation, but Daniel Knight, founder of Sidekick, has cast doubt on whether the fight will ever happen. Speaking exclusively, Knight said, “Don’t waste too much time pushing for this fight! I can’t see it happening.”

When Floyd asked, “With me?” Knight clarified, “With anyone.” His view is that Tate is simply not interested in returning to the ring. Knight pointed out that in Tate’s kickboxing days, he would fight in China on just two weeks’ notice, showing that arranging a bout would not be difficult if Tate truly wanted it. The issue, according to Knight, is not logistics but Tate’s lack of willingness.

There have even been talks of Tate potentially facing Darren Till, with rumors of a $20 million offer from Misfits Boxing. However, Knight believes those figures were exaggerated and that Tate has given little public indication he is serious about fighting again.

For Floyd, Knight’s words highlight the uphill battle he faces in trying to secure a clash with Tate. While the matchup would generate headlines, its likelihood seems slim unless Tate himself makes it clear he wants to step back into combat sports.
