Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan are set to fight in the Welterweight Division at Top Rank. Mayer comes into this match with confidence after a win in her last fight. Ryan, on the other hand, has won three of her last five fights. This is sure to be an exciting showdown.
Fighters’ Profiles and Strength
Mikaela Mayer – WLWWL
Mikaela Mayer suffered her only pro defeat in October 2022. She lost her world junior lightweight titles to Alycia Baumgardner by split decision. Mayer bounced back with a unanimous decision win over Silvia Bortot in September. At 33, the American boxer has a 19-1 record, with five wins by KO. She was the former unified super featherweight champion.

Mayer’s main event in Liverpool is her chance to shine and take the title from the reigning champion. With her hunger for victory and calculated approach, Mayer is a tough contender in this high-stakes fight.
Sandy Ryan – LWDWW
Sandy Ryan is preparing for her next match. She comes in with a strong three-fight winning streak, having recently defeated Aleksandra Vujovic, Kirstie Bavington, and Maria Capriolo. Ryan once challenged for the vacant WBC International Female Super Lightweight Title but lost to Erica Farias by unanimous decision.
In 2022, Ryan successfully defended the WBC International Female Super Lightweight Title with a unanimous decision over Anahi Esther Sanchez. She went on to win the vacant WBO World Female Welterweight Title in 2023, also by unanimous decision. Last September, she fought for the unified welterweight title, but the match ended in a split decision due to McCaskill’s toughness. Though a rematch is unlikely, Ryan remains eager to face major opponents like Harper.

Ryan holds a 6-1-1 professional record, with two wins by knockout. She has a decorated amateur background, with gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 2014 World Championships, before turning professional. Known for her powerful body shots, Ryan excels on the inside. She also has a great jab and a fierce backhand.
Some of her key victories include Erica Farias, to win the vacant WBC International Female Super Lightweight Title, Anahi Ester Sanchez in a title defense, and Marie-Pier Houle for the vacant WBO World Female Welterweight Title.

Final Prediction
I’m excited about this fight. It’s underrated but could be the Fight of the Year. I think it will be a close match, even with the age difference. Sandy Ryan is strong, but Mikaela Mayer is more skilled. I believe Mayer will win.
Ryan is good, too. Her fight with Jessica McCaskill was controversial; many felt Ryan should have won. She lost to the experienced Farias and is getting older, which could affect her performance. Though Ryan is tough, I think Mayer has the edge. She’s more skilled, holds the title, and has more fight experience.
I predict Mikaela Mayer will win by decision, and the fight will go past 8.5 rounds.
