NATE DIAZ EYES UFC COMEBACK, BUT WILL HE GET A TITLE SHOT?

Nate Diaz

UFC legend Nate Diaz recently revealed his plans for a UFC comeback, with a title fight in his sights. However, he admitted that several obstacles stand in his way before he can make his return to the Octagon.

Nate Diaz is one of the biggest stars in UFC history, but long gaps between fights have been a constant in his career. His last fight was at UFC 279 on September 10, 2022, where he secured a submission win over Tony Ferguson. Originally, Diaz was set to face Khamzat Chimaev in the main event, but Chimaev missed weight by 7.5 pounds, forcing a last-minute opponent change. Despite the chaos, Diaz put on a vintage performance, earning a victory before stepping away from the promotion.

Nate Diaz has stayed in the spotlight despite his UFC absence. Trouble always seems to find him. While away from the Octagon, he joined the world of celebrity boxing. He first fought Jake Paul in a high-profile match. Later, he faced former UFC rival Jorge Masvidal and won. Diaz continues to prove he still has plenty of fights left in him.

NATE DIAZ ONLY WANTS BIG FIGHTS

Nate Diaz has never been one to take just any fight. He has always chased the biggest names and the biggest paydays. In his recent interview, Diaz made it clear that he isn’t interested in just any opponent—he wants fights that matter.

“Well, everybody’s boring right now, so I’m trying to do other sh*t for the moment,” Diaz said. “But like, I want to go back and get a UFC title. I don’t want to fight for nothing, you know? I want to fight for something.”

Despite calling the current UFC landscape dull, Diaz still wants to make a championship run. Although he believes the sport lacks excitement, a return to UFC gold could be the challenge he needs.

THE REALITY OF NATE DIAZ’S WELTERWEIGHT TITLE CHANCES

Nate Diaz himself admitted that his UFC return is unlikely. But even if everything falls into place, he will have to compete in one of the toughest divisions in the sport.

Nate Diaz eyes UFC return

The welterweight division is stacked with elite talent. Current champion Belal Muhammad is set to defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena, while former champion Leon Edwards is scheduled to face Sean Brady. Meanwhile, the undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov remains one of the most dangerous contenders in the division.

If Diaz does return, his path to the title will be anything but easy. The competition is fierce, and the odds of him making a successful championship run seem nearly impossible.
