Nate Diaz Reveals Three-Fighter Wish List Ahead of Possible UFC Comeback

MMA veteran Nate Diaz is stirring up excitement in the fight world again, naming three fighters he’d like to face if he makes a return to the UFC. Speaking on the HJR Podcast, Diaz laid out a potential “hit list” that includes Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, and Ilia Topuria.

1. Conor McGregor – The Trilogy Bout

Diaz emphasized that his rivalry with Conor McGregor is far from over. Their series is tied 1-1, with Diaz winning their first fight via submission in 2016, and McGregor narrowly edging him out in a rematch later that year. Diaz made it clear that a third bout is necessary, saying there’s unfinished business between them.

2. Max Holloway – A Shot at the BMF Belt

Max Holloway currently holds the BMF (Baddest Motherf***er) title, a belt that Diaz once fought for. Having lost the original BMF bout to Jorge Masvidal, Diaz now sees a new opportunity in challenging Holloway. “That’s my belt,” Diaz said, suggesting he still feels a strong connection to the title and wants another crack at it.

3. Ilia Topuria – Recognizing a New Star

Nate Diaz also acknowledged rising contender Ilia Topuria, who recently moved up to lightweight and is preparing for a title fight against Charles Oliveira. While Diaz respects Topuria’s talent, he downplayed the matchup by noting their size difference, implying Topuria might not be big enough to pose a real challenge.

Looking Ahead

Despite interest in these fights, Diaz expressed disappointment in the current UFC roster, saying the promotion lacks compelling matchups for him. “There’s nobody to fight really,” he said. Still, he made it clear that any return would be for fights that matter—not just any opponent.

Whether it’s finishing the trilogy with McGregor, chasing the BMF belt again, or testing himself against rising stars, Diaz’s return could bring major energy back to the UFC.
