Paige Ivette Clymer Refuses To Play The Underdog Against Helena Crevar

Paige Ivette Clymer has never once said no to a fight, and she is not about to start against the most hyped teenager in women’s grappling.

The American makes her ONE Championship debut against Helena Crevar in a 10-minute openweight submission grappling contest at The Inner Circle 22 on Friday, July 17. The bout streams exclusively for members in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s historic Lumpinee Stadium.

Clymer has climbed every level of the women’s grappling circuit, compiling a remarkable 118-7 record along the way.

“I fight anybody. I don’t turn down matches. I fight every single person,” Clymer said.

She knows exactly what she is walking into against Crevar, the youngest podium finisher in ADCC history and a 2025 IBJJF No-Gi World Champion.

“She’s a high-level female grappler. She’s very, very technical. She’s been training since she was a little kid and has full support from her family, and that’s great.”

Clymer, a black belt under Keenan Cornelius at Legion American Jiu Jitsu, sees size as the variable that could decide the contest.

“Now that she’s gaining more weight, she’s going to have to fight some bigger girls, and I’m excited for that too, because I feel like it’s kind of different,” Clymer said.

“When you’re fighting smaller people, it’s a little bit easier to impose your will, especially if you’re a strong girl. But once you get to the bigger girls, it’s just different.”

Before jiu-jitsu, Clymer built her engine in the pool, competing in water polo through a grueling conditioning base most grapplers never develop.

“From my water polo days, my whole body would be numb, and I’d have to keep swimming for the ball. We’ll see. I’m really excited to compete against her. I’ve always wanted to.”

“I think she’s a great grappler, but you never know. Styles make matchups. She’s a little bit slower, more methodical. I’m faster, and I push the pace.”

The San Diego resident has returned from torn ACL and meniscus injuries to reach this moment, and she rejects any suggestion she is the underdog.

“The fight is going to end in a submission. I’m going to get the submission. I’m going to submit her.”
