British Muay Thai fighter George Jarvis stepped into the biggest bout of his career on Friday night at ONE Fight Night 34, challenging dominant champion Regian “The Immortal” Eersel for the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title. But the night ended in heartbreak for the rising star, as Eersel stopped Jarvis in the first round via knockout, handing the Brit his most decisive loss to date.
Held at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, the bout had all the markings of a potential breakout moment for Jarvis. Riding a four-fight win streak in ONE Championship, the 25-year-old entered the ring with momentum and growing hype behind him. However, Eersel’s speed, power, and championship experience proved overwhelming.

From the opening seconds, the Surinamese-Dutch champion set the tone, landing hard leg kicks and applying forward pressure. Jarvis attempted to keep distance using body kicks and teeps, but Eersel cut off the ring efficiently. The final blow came just 1 minute and 24 seconds into the round—a well-timed flying knee that dropped Jarvis. He was unable to beat the referee’s count, resulting in a swift and emphatic win for Eersel.
This marks Jarvis’s second career loss in ONE Championship, but the first by knockout. His only other defeat came by split decision in his promotional debut back in 2023. Since then, Jarvis had rebuilt momentum with wins over the likes of Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong, Ricardo Bravo, and Mouhcine Chafi. That success earned him both a performance bonus and a coveted title shot—but Eersel proved to be a major step up in competition.

Regian Eersel, meanwhile, continues his remarkable run as one of the most dominant champions in ONE’s history. The win marked another successful title defense and reinforced his status as a top pound-for-pound Muay Thai fighter.
Despite the setback, Jarvis remains one of the most promising UK prospects on the global stage. At just 25 years old, time is still on his side as he looks to regroup, improve, and eventually mount another run toward championship gold.
