The salaries for Netflix’s first ever MVP MMA event have officially been revealed, and it was Ronda Rousey who walked away as the highest paid fighter on the card.
The former UFC champion reportedly earned a massive $2.2 million payday for her comeback fight against Gina Carano in the historic main event. The event marked Rousey’s return to MMA after nearly a decade away from the sport, while Carano competed for the first time in 17 years.
Rousey’s huge purse came after she dominated the fight in just 17 seconds, submitting Carano with her trademark armbar in front of a packed Intuit Dome crowd. Carano herself also secured a seven figure payday, earning a reported $1.05 million for the bout.
Right behind Rousey on the salary list was Francis Ngannou, who earned $1.5 million for his heavyweight clash against Philipe Lins. Ngannou delivered another brutal knockout performance and later used his post fight interview to call out Jon Jones for a future super fight. Lins earned $100,000 despite the loss.
