Selina Flores Believes ‘Everyone’s Breakable’ Ahead Of Stamp Fairtex Showdown
Selina “Teep Queen” Flores made the kind of promotional debut that gets a fighter noticed, and it did not take long for the offer of a lifetime to land in her inbox.
The two-time WBC Muay Thai World Champion faces former three-sport ONE World Champion Stamp Fairtex in an atomweight Muay Thai main event at ONE Fight Night 47 on Prime Video, broadcasting live from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, September 4.
Flores cruised to a unanimous decision over Marie McManamon in her debut at ONE Fight Night 36, a performance that quickly caught the promotion’s attention.
“My manager asked me if I wanted to fight Stamp, and I was just like, ‘Yes, absolutely!’ I was so excited,” she recalled. “I want to have these opportunities to prove myself and continue to build my name in ONE. This fight is a great stepping stone for me to prove myself.”
Stamp’s resume speaks for itself, headlined by becoming the promotion’s first-ever three-sport World Champion. But Flores insists reputation alone will not change her preparation.
“I am expecting the best version of Stamp. Whether people think she’s better before or whatever, I don’t really care about that. I am preparing for the sharpest, best, quickest, and most technical version of Stamp,” she said. “When I beat her, I don’t want excuses like, ‘She’s not the same Stamp.'”
That confidence carries over into how Flores envisions the fight ending. Hours of film study on Stamp’s past fights, particularly her bouts with Kana Morimoto and Cynthia Flores, have convinced the San Diego native she has found a blueprint no one else has executed.
“I can finish Stamp. I think Stamp’s human. Although she’s such a big star, she’s still human. There are still instances where she’s breaking,” Flores said. “I’ve studied those fights endlessly. I’ve never been finished either, but I think that everyone’s breakable. It just takes the right set of skills, and I think I’m capable of doing that.”
Beyond Friday, Flores already has her sights locked on ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.
“A win over Stamp is fantastic for getting my name out there,” she said. “The ultimate goal is to get to the belt, and I’m trying to get to Allycia.”
