Sornsueknoi’s Long Road Back Runs Through Lumpinee Once
A childhood love affair with Muay Thai, a pandemic detour into odd jobs, and a slow climb back to relevance all lead to one Friday night in Bangkok.
Sornsueknoi FA Group meets fellow Thai Klarob NuiCafeboran in a flyweight Muay Thai main event at ONE Friday Fights 171, streaming live from Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, September 18.
The 31-year-old fell in love with the sport after watching an event at just 10 years old. He later won his first 10 professional fights before stepping away during the pandemic to work odd jobs. Since returning to fighting in late 2024, he has continued addingto his highlight reel, most notably stopping Nuapet Torfunfarm via TKO in a performance that suggested the layoff had barely dulled his instincts.
Across the ring stands a fighter with his own momentum to protect. Klarob, 26, represents PK Saenchai Muaythaigym and brings a two-fight winning streak into Lumpinee, having outpointed Omar El Halabi and knocked out Babak Haghi in his two most recent outings,each performance sharper than the last.
Both men now sit within striking distance of the US$100,000 contract that changes careers on this platform, and neither has any intention of letting the opportunity slip.
The card also features its own debut storyline in the co-main event. Undefeated Petsuphan Lookmuangpet, 25, meets Myanmar’s Mahar Thway in a strawweight Muay Thai clash marking Thway’s promotional debut. Petsuphan has yet to taste defeat, improving to 2-0 witha second-round TKO of Petsamart Muangphaphum, while Thway brings a perfect 10-0 record and a Lethwei background into his first ONE Championship appearance.
Both fighters are chasing the kind of statement win that reshapes a young career, adding another storyline worth following on a card built around fighters trying to make their mark. Three additional bouts round out the nine-fight card, spanning Muay Thai, kickboxing,and MMA.
