ONE Championship’s return to Japan is shaping up to be a historic one. Three all-Japan MMA matchups have been added to ONE Samurai 1, going down live on Wednesday, April 29, from Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
Headline billing among the new additions belongs to submission specialist Ayaka “Zombie” Miura, who takes on Chihiro Sawada in an atomweight MMA clash between two of the country’s most dangerous grapplers.
Miura arrives with serious momentum behind her. The 35-year-old Tribe Tokyo MMA representative carries a 16-5 career record and has won five fights in a row, eight of her nine ONE victories coming by submission. A third-degree judo black belt, she was due to challenge undisputed ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga at ONE 173 last November, only for the title shot to fall apart when the champion withdrew due to health reasons.

Now she must get past Sawada, a 28-year-old wrestler with an 11-1 career record who has built her reputation on dragging opponents to the canvas and finishing them on the ground. Currently riding a three-fight winning streak, Sawada is no stepping stone.
Also added to the card is a strawweight MMA showdown between Keito “Pocket Monk” Yamakita and Ryohei Kurosawa. The 29-year-old Yamakita brings an 11-1 career record and a three-fight winning streak that includes victories over two former ONE Strawweight MMA World Champions, Alex Silva and Yosuke Saruta. Kurosawa, 32, counters with 20 career victories and a diverse skill set, though he dropped a decision loss to Bokang Masunyane earlier this year after winning his promotional debut in 2025.
Completing the trio is a rescheduled atomweight MMA bout between Itsuki “Android 18” Hirata and Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat. Originally set for ONE 173, the fight fell through when Phogat was replaced by Sawada, who proceeded to hand Hirata a unanimous decision loss. Phogat, 31, carries a 7-4 MMA record and returns to action following a period away from the sport after starting a family. Both women have a point to prove in Tokyo.
