Two Veterans Look To Halt Their Slides At ONE Fight Night 48
A rough patch can happen to anyone, but two accomplished strikers now share the same mission: proving their recent form was the aberration, not the new normal.
Hong Kong’s Yu Yau Pui meets Britain’s Marie McManamon in an atomweight Muay Thai clash at ONE Fight Night 48, airing live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, October 2.
Yu’s path into the sport began at 18 as a way to stay fit before she took her first official fight at 22. She debuted on ONE Friday Fights in 2023 and reeled off five straight wins to earn a US$100,000 contract, then made an instant impact on the main roster by defeating former ISKA and WBC Muay Thai World Champion Lara Fernandez in 2024.
Since that high point, the 33-year-old has hit a difficult stretch, winning just once in her last four outings. Five months after knocking out and retiring former standout Anna Jaroonsak in Muay Thai action, Yu switched to kickboxing and fell to former K-1 Champion Kana Morimoto in a competitive three-round battle this past August. She now returns to her preferred discipline holding a 29-5 professional record, looking to rediscover the form that once made her one of the division’s biggest threats.
Standing across from her is a 36-year-old Knowlesy Academy representative who trains alongside reigning bantamweight kickboxing king Jonathan Haggerty and strawweight prospect Freddie Haggerty. Widely regarded as one of the United Kingdom’s leading Muay Thai strikers, McManamon dominated the domestic scene before making a high-profile ONE Championship debut in 2025 against Allycia Hellen Rodrigues for the atomweight Muay Thai World Title.
That fight ended in a fourth-round TKO loss, and months later McManamon fell to two-time WBC Muay Thai World Champion Selina Flores by unanimous decision. Both results have left her searching for the kind of statement win that reestablishes her as a genuine threat in the division.
Two veterans, two stalled runs, and one shared opportunity to remind the division why they were considered contenders in the first place.
