UFC 319 in Turmoil: Two Undercard Fights Cancelled Within 24 Hours

As UFC 319 gears up for action this Saturday night at Chicago’s United Center, an unexpected shake-up has thrown the undercard into chaos. Within just 24 hours, two significant bouts were canceled—forcing the promotion to scramble for replacements and leaving fans on edge.

What Happened?

  • King Green vs. Diego Ferreira, scheduled as a featured lightweight prelim, was scrapped after Green revealed an injury so severe he “can’t walk.” His heartfelt Instagram apology—delivered while on crutches—sent shockwaves through MMA fans:
“If I have to f‑‑‑‑ limp my a‑‑ there, I’ll limp myself into the cage… This one is a little bit different, I can’t even f‑‑‑‑ walk, guys.”
  • Soon after, the TUF 33 welterweight finale between Rodrigo Sezinando and Daniil Donchenko also fell apart due to injury. The bout, which would have decided the next Ultimate Fighter champ, has been postponed and is rumored to be rebooked for Noche UFC 3 on September 13 in San Antonio.

UFC Responds Swiftly

Unwilling to let the spotlight dim, the UFC moved quickly to patch the card. A new middleweight matchup was added featuring Baisangur Susurkaev (9‑0), fresh off a knockout win on Dana White’s Contender Series. He’ll face Eric Nolan(8‑3), who enters on a four-fight win streak.

The Main Event Still Intact

Despite the undercard disruptions, the headline bout remains untouched: a middleweight title showdown between champion Dricus du Plessis and undefeated challenger Khamzat Chimaev. With so much at stake, all eyes remain locked on this clash of rising titans.
