A skills gap on paper means nothing to a fighter who has already rebuilt himself once. Petnamkhong Sor Maneekhot is banking everything on that truth.

The 22-year-old Laotian-Thai star returns to the The Inner Circle 26 main event against Wanchainoi Pongsuphan PK in a strawweight Muay Thai showdown, streaming live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium this Friday, August 14.

Facing a PK Saenchai Muaythaigym veteran with 101 career wins is his toughest test yet, and Petnamkhong does not pretend otherwise.

“I feel honored and excited to fight a top-tier athlete from a renowned gym like PK Saenchai. He has far more experience and skill than I do, and I’ve studied his style closely,” he said.

“Can I beat him? We’ll find out in the ring. That night, everyone will see who gets their hand raised.”

Petnamkhong knows exactly how outsiders view this matchup, and rather than resist the underdog label, he has leaned all the way into it.

“I admit that on paper, I might be the underdog in terms of technical skills and experience. But the one thing I am never an underdog in is my heart. My fighting spirit is there. I will never back down. Watch me prove it this Friday,” he said.

That resolve was forged the hard way. Three straight losses between August 2024 and February 2025 drained his confidence and invited a wave of online criticism, prompting Petnamkhong to step away from competition entirely.

“Losing those fights drained my confidence, and I faced a lot of online criticism. I talked with my sister and agreed to take a break from competing to focus on rebuilding my confidence before stepping back into the ring,” he said.

He has not lost since, and the motivation driving his current run extends well beyond his own name.

“ONE Championship is a global platform watched by fans all over the world. I want to represent Laos on that stage and make history for my country.”
