Yodlekpet And Pompet Run Back Rivalry In ONE Friday Fights 170 Rubber Match
Yodlekpet Or Atchariya and Pompet Pongsuphan PK have split their first two meetings down the middle, and on Friday, September 11, they finally settle the score for good.
The flyweight Muay Thai decider headlines ONE Friday Fights 170, streaming live in Asia primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium, with nine bouts on the card and most fighters chasing the same US$100,000 main roster contract.
Yodlekpet, the 31-year-old four-time Muay Thai World Champion known as “The Destroyer,” took their first encounter by split decision before Pompet answered right back with a split decision of his own. Since then, Yodlekpet has strung together three straight wins, most recently a unanimous decision over Saw Min Min.
Pompet, now representing PK Saenchai Muaythaigym, enters off a third-round TKO of Nat Khat Min and will look to end the trilogy with a definitive statement rather than another close scorecard. The 27-year-old has made clear he views this fight as the one that finally settles which man holds the edge in a rivalry that has produced two of the closest decisions either fighter has been part of.
The co-main event pits two of the promotion’s hottest hands against each other, with Ayad Albadr defending a five-fight winning streak against Kongchai Chanaidonmueang, who brings a four-fight run of his own into Lumpinee Stadium.
Albadr, a two-time IFMA gold medalist, has looked sensational since his promotional return, while Kongchai’s first-round knockout of Valerii Strungari has established him as one of the division’s most dangerous rising names. Kongchai will look to hand Albadr his first defeat since last year, a result that would send an immediate message to the rest of the strawweight division.
Elsewhere on the card, teenage prospects Yonis Anane and Ricardo Sanchez collide in a highly anticipated strawweight clash, while six additional bouts across Muay Thai round out a night built almost entirely around fighters chasing their next milestone.
