Yuki Yoza Promises All-Out War With Superlek At ONE 173

Breaking legs doesn’t intimidate Yuki Yoza, who views physical destruction as merely the pathway toward his true objective when he faces Superlek Kiatmoo9 — shattering the unbreakable mental fortitude that defines the Thai’s pound-for-pound greatness.

The 27-year-old Japanese sensation challenges the ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion in bantamweight action at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 inside Tokyo’s Ariake Arena, where his unusual confidence stems from intimate knowledge most opponents never possess.

Yoza played Superlek during sparring sessions preparing teammate Takeru Segawa for their ONE 165 collision. Replicating “The Kicking Machine’s” movement patterns, kicking rhythms, and attack angles provided education that transcends typical fight preparation. That experience embedded Superlek’s tendencies into both Yoza’s mind and muscle memory.

“I actually played the role of Superlek in sparring to help Takeru prepare. I copied his style closely, so I know in my head and body what to do,” he said. “I know his weaknesses, and also his strengths. I feel confident.”

The Team Vasileus striker has earned his supreme confidence through spectacular promotional performances since joining ONE Championship in April. He handed Russian powerhouse Elbrus Osmanov his first career defeat before dismantling former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Petchtanong Petchfergus within a month, extending his winning streak to 12 consecutive victories.

Those rapid-fire victories over elite competition fuel his belief that he represents the only Japanese fighter capable of solving the Superlek puzzle that has confounded countless opponents. The former K-1 Champion sees their collision as validation that championship destiny belongs to him rather than remaining distant ambition.

Superlek’s resume sparkles with 139 career victories including former ONE World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Jonathan Haggerty, and Nabil Anane. Yet Yoza views that legendary mental toughness as something breakable through the right combination of physical punishment and tactical superiority.

“The very top fighters have incredible mental strength. I want to break that strong spirit,” he said. “I want to break him and show that moment to fans across Japan.”
