Japanese ace Yuki Yoza is right on the verge of his highly anticipated debut in ONE Championship, and he’s making sure everybody knows he means business by laying out his plans.
The former K-1 Champion will meet unbeaten star Elbrus Osmanov in a bantamweight kickboxing showdown on 23rd May at ONE Friday Fights 109 inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Having attained prestigious gold at all levels of kickboxing, Yoza plans to follow suit in the world’s largest martial arts organisation and claims he’ll challenge ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Haggery for the gold inside the next 12 months.
“Within a year, I will take the belt from [Jonathan] Haggerty. That’s the goal,” he told South China Morning Post.
“He’s strong and very good at adjusting, but I want to show I am better.”

Yoza has lofty ambitions in ONE Championship. But before he can embark on his quest for the World Title, he has to thwart Osmanov, which promises to be far from straightforward.
“The Samurai” holds a 12-0 record and has impressed across six outings in ONE, defeating talents such as Kaonar Sor Jor Thongprajin, Miao Aoqin, and Nathan Bendon.
Despite his upcoming opponent’s thrilling performances and unbeaten slate, Yoza remains unfazed.
He’s of the opinion that his adversary hasn’t taken on anybody near his calibre, and he plans to prove that point by breaking the Russian’s will at ONE Friday Fights 109.
“Osmanov hasn’t faced anyone strong yet,” he said.
“I must break his bones or at least his fighting spirit – and show the level difference.”
