Daughter Of Lee Murray Pleads for His Release After 18 Years in Prison: ‘He’s Paid a Huge Price’

Lee Murray, once a prominent figure in the UFC, has now spent 18 years imprisoned in Morocco for his involvement in the 2006 Securitas depot robbery in Kent, where £53 million was taken—still the largest cash heist in UK history. Recently, Murray’s daughter, Lilly Lamrani Murray, stepped forward to request his release, offering insight into his mental state and the changes she believes he’s undergone during his time behind bars.

In her emotional appeal to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Lilly spoke openly about her father’s evolution. She was careful not to excuse his criminal past but emphasized the significant growth he’s shown during his incarceration. “My dad is a good man that made bad choices and paid a huge price,” she wrote. She described a man who is no longer defined by his mistakes, but rather by the reflection and transformation that came afterward.

Murray, who is also a Moroccan citizen through his father, escaped to the country following the robbery. Although Morocco refused to extradite him to the UK, authorities there worked closely with British investigators. What began as a ten-year sentence was eventually increased to 25 years in 2010.

Despite the nature of the crime, Lilly’s words highlight how the fallout extended beyond the prison walls. She shared the pain of growing up with little connection to her father, writing, “We are the invisible victims that are still suffering to this day.” Her message is not just a plea for his release, but a call for her family to be made whole again.

Murray’s story is layered with ambition, failure, and perhaps redemption. Whether Moroccan authorities will weigh his personal changes against the past remains uncertain.
