Early Life and Introduction to Combat Sports

Louis King, also known as ‘K.O King’ was born on 27 December 1984, followed by his younger brother Tommy King on 27 June 1986. Growing up in Haslemere, the two brothers shared a competitive spirit from a young age. Whether it was in the gym or in day-to-day life, that natural drive and they support they have for each other would become the foundation for their future success in the fight game.

Daniel Knight from Sidekick said “I remember when Tommy was fighting on Stand & Bang and Louis was giving him the biggest encouragement when he was walking out. They do it together!”

Their journey intersected with Sidekick during the early days of the promotion’s involvement with MMA. Louis King, who originally was trained by Matthew Powell from Colosseum gym competed on CSMMA, where his standout performances caught the eye of Sidekick. From that moment, a strong connection was formed — one that got Sidekick to see both Louis and Tommy rise through the ranks and become major names on the UK and international fight scene.

Rising Through the Ranks

Both brothers quickly built reputations for being incredibly adaptable fighters. They weren’t just specialists in one discipline — they could seamlessly transition between striking and grappling, making them dangerous opponents in any rule set. Whether it was in the ring with kickboxing gloves or inside the cage under MMA rules, the King brothers consistently delivered electrifying performances and won many titles.

Their talent and dedication opened doors to huge events, where they represented British combat sports at the highest levels. Fans were drawn not only to their skill but also to their intensity, professionalism, and the unmistakable brotherly bond that fuelled their success.

What truly set Louis and Tommy apart was their ability to adapt to any fighting style. Few fighters can excel in both kickboxing and MMA at a high level, but the King brothers did so with apparent ease. Their striking was crisp and powerful, while their grappling and fight IQ made them complete, well-rounded martial artists.

A Lasting Legacy

Louis and Tommy King’s journey is a testament to what happens when talent, hard work, and opportunity meet. From Haslemere to the international stage, and from the early days of CSMMA with Sidekick to major global events, they have carved out a legacy that continues to inspire fighters coming up through the ranks today.

They remain shining examples of British fighters who proved they could adapt, evolve, and thrive in any arena — whether under kickboxing rules or inside the MMA cage.
