Matt Floyd Calls Out Billy Joe Saunders After ‘Pub Car Park’ No-Show – BKFC Bout Talks Heat Up

Australian bare-knuckle fighter Matt Floyd claims he was left hanging in an English pub car park after Billy Joe Saunders failed to appear for what was meant to be the start of negotiations for a potential Bare Knuckle FC (BKFC) showdown.

Speaking to World Boxing News, Floyd explained that he and his team flew across the world expecting a face-to-face confrontation. “He sent us the area code of a pub he was at,” Floyd said. “We flew straight over for a scrap. The postcode led us to two pubs, we checked both — no Billy Joe.”

Unfazed by the no-show, Floyd says he plans to try again, promising, “I’ll be there again tomorrow, where you said you’d be, or I’ll see you in Birmingham on February 28th.”

From Pub Banter to a Real BKFC Offer

What began as a bit of online back-and-forth has evolved into serious talks for a possible BKFC main event. Floyd, who previously fought James DeGale in the promotion, confirmed that Bare Knuckle FC is prepared to back the matchup with a major offer. “I want to fight Billy Joe Saunders in a proper fight,” Floyd said. “BKFC is ready to pay him big money to make this happen.”

Floyd accused Saunders of “pricing himself out” of the fight and even proposed a 50–50 purse split to close the deal. “Divide your purse in two,” he said. “You said that yourself. Let’s do it.”

Saunders, who hasn’t fought since his TKO loss to Canelo Alvarez in 2021, later fired back online, promising that he’d easily defeat Floyd if they met. “I could be drunk and still beat you,” Saunders wrote, while insisting no one had formally reached out to him directly.

Despite the banter, the offer on the table reportedly includes a £1 million purse signaling that BKFC is serious about making the crossover fight happen. Floyd’s pub-side callout has since gone viral, drawing huge attention online.

As Floyd returns to the same spot tonight, the combat sports world waits to see whether Saunders will finally show up or ghost him again.
